Topic Summary

Dude I have four younger sisters. Growing up I had John Mayer and Jason Mraz coming out my asshole. You assume that because I disagree with you I am uninformed. Well you are wrong, and I think you are being a turd about it to get the upper hand in an argument with me. "I thought you were an open-minded music fan." Bitch, PLEASE. Give it up, wolfy, or you are going in the bin with biff and doumak.

This is all I am arguing in defending John Mayer. You have said nothing to refute this argument.

KIDS THESE DAYS! YOU MAKE MY BRAIN VOMIT PITY. I honesty hate that I spent this much time talking to a gaggle of 23 year old John Mayer fans.

Strawman insults and condescension also do not convince me otherwise.

Josh Groban gots a set of pipes but his music is still for people who take music recommendations from Starbucks.

Sorry, I should be getting musical advice from Saturday morning cartoons.

Not to say that is a bad thing, I just use it as an example to describe my point. We all get music we enjoy from different places; it's a matter of opinion (not pity) as to whether we like it or not. You can enjoy bands that sing songs from Dr. Seuss books if you like, I do not judge.

Do you vomit pity for your four younger sisters?

And doumak: John Mayer is in the same class of terrible as Schumacher's Batman films.

Yes, Schumacher's Batman films were awful - but does that make him a poor director? Not necessarily - I happen to have loved 'Falling Down'...

so Hold Me Anagram, hopefully you can respect my opinion here and not belittle me because of it; now you eat humble pie.

My sisters have terrible taste in music and yes, that makes me sad for them. Schumacher made one decent film, and Michael Douglas carried it single-handedly. He is one of the worst directors in the history of cinema. Starbucks is a corporate whore that panders to the lowest common denominator. Animators are doing their jobs when they inspire young minds, make you laugh or show you something you've never seen before, and Starbucks is doing their job if they don't fuck up your latte. Let's don't compare them. As ever, I stand by everything I said. Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugs!!

Yeah, the "open minded music fan" thing was a cheap shot, but dude, lighten up. It is too easy to push your buttons. Especially for someone who finds it so easy to give others shit. I imagine this is another hazard of having four younger sisters.

Soloman Burke (months before he died)
Sonic Youth
Lucinda Williams (I got to meet her)
Screaming Trees
Big Star

I would say that is all pretty good for being under 18.

Yeah, I've mentioned before that I have mild Asperger's. You may have noticed that sometimes it is hard for me to locate the brake pedal. It really isn't about posturing or intellectual defense; to me, this is basically a video game in which the point is to have the last word.

Picture Daniel Johnston pounding his fists on a piano in his parents' basement. Gotta let the demons out, wolfy, or they'll let themselves out.

So completely forgot about this thread, but I'm assuming nothing came out of it... I still think this has to be the winner, with The Jacksons, Snow, and The Beach Boys.

Your list has already been submitted.... no alternates.

Fucking Snow? Really Stamps, i'd like to hear a story describing how and why you ever saw them.
Posted by blacksmile on Apr 22, 2011, 10:06pm
Of that list I've seen Marilyn Manson (Calgary), Snow (Muchmusic Snow Job) and The Beach Boys (Calgary) circa 1987 (so I believe Brian Wilson was present). Forgive me if I'm wrong on that but I was 10 years old. Seeing The Jacksons is a feat though!

And my contribution to this thread would be:

Daft Punk
Amy Winehouse
Pink Floyd
Mogwai
Urge Overkill
At the Drive-In

Posted by XhornedXgrammaX on Apr 22, 2011, 10:47pm
Black, you saw Floyd? Fuck you!

Posted by blacksmile on Apr 22, 2011, 11:23pm
Yup...Division Bell Tour, Edmonton Alberta. Craziest thing about the show, light show aside, was that people were taking their seats, milling about, smoking, drinking...and then suddenly the band is on stage playing "Astronomy Domine"! No dimming of the lights, no announcement, just fucking Pink Floyd playing on stage. Sureal as all hell.

Way, way jealous. Great time to have seen em, all things considered.

That trumps Boingo. You win the thread.
