Problem is, there is no precedent here. The Wonder Ballroom shows have always started at 4 with doors at 3. Therefore, I have no clue if more people or less people will want to attend a late night show there. If you absolutely can't miss MSTRKRFT, I would say it's a good idea to get there early. If it were me, I would watch Iron and Wine, then try to get in for MSTRKRFT. If the line is too long, go back downtown and catch some other shows.

Keep in mind you need an actual ticket to see Iron & Wine, the general wristband doesn't get you in. That confuses some people.

Wait, what? I thought it allowed you to get into one headliner show?

You get a ticket for the headlining show depending on which package you pick. It is the ticket getting you in, not the wristband. The confusion I spoke of is that people with wristbands don't realize they can't just get into the Pioneer Courthouse shows like they could at any other venue with the wristband only.

...which is why you don't buy wristbands from people in bars. Also: the reason I didn't get to see the National last summer.

Thanks for the tips know ID yuh. I have a VIP wristband so I actually do not have tickets for the PCS shows (just show wristband I believe), but I still have to wait in line for the Wonder Ballroom Nike Shows. Since I want to see Iron and Wine and MSTRKRFT equally I will probably stick around for most of Iron and Wines set and then head over to the Wonder Ballroom in hopes of getting in. If the line is ridiculous, I can just go to another venue and get in regardless of whether there is a line (in theory at least).

It will certainly be an experience as I have never been to a festival with this sort of setup.

Let's just get this out of the way.

Raise your hand if you're from Idaho.

Fuck!!! I'll be in PDX on the 10th but won't be there early enough for Blind Pilot. That makes me very sad.

I'm still mad at the Doug Fir (and kexp) cause a couple years ago they were supposed to have sunny day real estate come in for one of those live sessions and they replaced it with fucking chairlift

Fuck. I'm working on Thursday. I really wanna see Little Dragon and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Are they free for everyone or just people with MFNW wristbands?
Posted by know ID yuh on Sept 2, 2011, 2:50pm
Free to everyone, no wristband needed.

MusicFestNW kicks off tonight. The Kills at the Crystal Ballroom is a good start, not like Panda Bear opening the fest last year, but the Kills are fun live.

I'd say that's a guaranteed great time! Seeing them at bumbershoot was my third time seeing Alison Mosshart live and my third time falling in love. She completely owns the crowd when she's up there.

And after that show I somehow managed to full-on walk into Jamie Hince while he was smoking. I ended up standing around chatting with him and another guy for about a half-hour and lending him a pen so he could sign stuff for people. Definitely a highlight of my weekend.

(and yes, that story has been getting my dick sucked all week long)
