If my festival dance card wasn't already full, I would definitely go to this.

I think I am seriously considering this. I have wanted to see the Shins for a long time. Hell, one of my wife's (she's hot) favorite bands is Muse so I might be able to convince her.

I like her already! I think I'll be at this festival as well! Boarders Unite! part 2!

It's cool Weak Shit Super-Duper Fan, you can just leave the key under the mat for us.

Hahaha man, I live in a studio in the Tenderloin. I most decidedly am not doing that.

I went to Outside Lands a couple years ago and loved it. It is a music festival in a city, but when you're there it doesn't feel like it. Golden Gate Park is huge. That picture does make things look pretty crowded, but I never felt overwhelmed by it. That is one of the side stages anyhow, the main stage is wide open. The layout of the grounds is such that it does take a long time to walk from one end to the other so that does suck, but when I was there they did a pretty good job of staggering the start times.

Parking is a joke so don't bother driving, but if you can bring one they offer free bike valet. Otherwise the bus system in SF is top notch. I stayed in a hotel a ways away from the park, but every night after the festival they had buses showing up and leaving every 5 minutes. I was very impressed. Oh, and TV On the Radio must have been staying nearby because the dude with big 'fro and beard came into the hotel bar one night. He was with a lady!

One notable difference between OL and SMF is the food. We all know how shitty the food is at the Gorge, but at Outside Lands they actually made an effort to have sustainable and healthy food vendors. Lots of veggie options, and many things were organic. Prices were about the same, but at least you got something that resembled actual food!

I am seriously considering going again this year...

Was that the year the Radioheads played?
Posted by wolfhat on Apr 29, 2011, 10:32am
I wish. I am always in the wrong place at the wrong time to see Radiohead. Except in 2003 when I moved to Vancouver the day they played Thunderbird Stadium. What a welcome it was!

I went to Outside Lands the year Pearl Jam, DMB, and Tenacious D headlined. 2009. It was supposed to be the Beasties and not the D, but that was the year MCA was diagnosed with cancer and they cancelled their shows.

Is anyone going to this awesome festival this year? I'm trying to go with a few other boarders. Its coming up in just a few months. If anyone wants to carpool/meet there/party/hostel it up. Lemme know because that would be amazing.

Unfortunately I'll be in Chicago that weekend instead... Otherwise a trip to SF would be pretty tempting.

I understand Phish, I do not like Phish at all. But Muse?! I love me some Muse and I hear they put on a damn good show. I'm most stoked for Muse, Arcade Fire, and Deadmau5

I was really considering this because I'm moving to the east bay, but the lineup just doesn't seem worth it. Disclaimer: I've never really listened to Phish.

I love the Shins, but I don't even know what their present incarnation looks like/will sound like.

"Puts on a good show" doesn't do it for me if I don't like their music (read: Muse)

Just saw AF in April.

Nothing else to speak of. I'd love to see Big Boi, Roots, Decemberists again. Up and down undercard. Just not doing it for me. But have fun kids. I8 you going?

I love Phish but they are going to be at the Gorge. I wouldn't go to California for any of those bands. If I lived there it would be fun.
