Fox hasn't either. Not gunna lie when I was 15 and judged bands based on their name I thought Talking Heads was a terrible band name and that has at least been a partial reason for me not going into them too much.
Then again I think Pink Floyd is a pretty dumb name too, so that theory doesn't really pan out.
The ultimate answer should be the Beatles but their total dominance of pop culture causes way too many people to judge them on songs like 'Ticket to Ride' and 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' before actually listening to an album.

Except multiple boarders already stated their indifference to the Beatles.
I doubt any band creating music prior to 1990 wins this. There are enough youngsters on the board who don't listen to old skool music, which is why David Bowie and the Talking Heads are close, but still far off. It's nearly impossible we agree one act/band is great, even with such a small community. I think LCD is as close as we'll get, unless people want to admit they love Michael Jackson and Prince.
Why would people have trouble admitting the like MJ and Prince? I thought there were already boarders who had done that.
Although I do agree this is likely an impossible task. Just when we think we've found that one band and everyone agrees, someone will acknowledge their hatred at the last moment.
Well, I definitely don't hate LCD but I am fairly lukewarm on them, especially when compared to you guys.
I like MJ and Prince quite a bit, though I'm not sure I've ever listened to a full Prince album. Had some very magical times listening to Michael Jackson though.
Everyone likes the Rolling Stones, right? Everything they've ever done hasn't been amazing (as already discussed) but does anyone actually not like them?
And don't go listen to Heroes. Listen to The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust or Aladdin Sane. And then Space Oddity and The Man Who Sold the World. Then do Low, Heroes and Lodger, in order like you should. Then listen to the rest of his catalogue 'cause it's all fucking fantastic! (even if I like Heroes the least)
Ziggy Stardust is great and all, but I think Heroes is the best starting point.
