Unfortunately for Ween, the standard ace in the hole that could always be used to convince the non-believer -- a live performance by Ween -- is no longer to be had. You'd never know what Ween really sounds like unless you watched them play for a couple hours.

Sadly, it's looking like the same can be said of Sonic Youth. You would totally understand Sonic Youth if you saw them play.

I'm another dude who digs both bands, but I was not fully sold on either until I saw their shows.

Shax it isn't too late to save your life. My life would be bereft without those bands.

I could never make it through an entire Smiths album. Dude is whiny as fuck.

I am the absolute worst judge of popular opinion. People tell me things are popular and I'm like "wut?", and then I pull out some record that is seminal in my life and everybody's all like "wut?"

For fun I googled "top 100 bands". The following is a selection of bands from several resulting lists. I have heard 1 album or less of material from:

Alice In Chains
The Allman Brothers
The Band
The Bee Gees
Black Sabbath
Bon Jovi
Boston
James Brown
Judas Priest
Coldplay
Deep Purple
The Eagles
Earth, Wind & Fire
Fleetwood Mac
Foreigner
Genesis
Grateful Dead (I know)
Iron Maiden
Jefferson Airplane
Jethro Tull
Journey
Orbital
Parliament Funkadelic
The Police
Elvis Presley
Prince
R.E.M.
Rush
Slayer
Sly and the Family Stone
Soundgarden
Steely Dan
Stone Temple Pilots
U2
Yes
Van Halen
Stevie Wonder
Frank Zappa
ZZ Top

Unless you are a prostitute, "seminal" does not mean "popular."

A Phish fan who hasn't listened to the Dead is doing it wrong.

So if I really didn't care about the first video, but thought this was cool, what Sigur Ros album should I be listening to?
