I'm going to buy a pass no matter what, and Dr. Garbanzoure out if I can go later. The nice thing about Coachella is it's never hard to find a buyer. I'm even thinking about buying weekend 1 and 2 passes just in case.

I'll take it

The extra $40 per ticket is a "Rolling Stones" fee.

$40 X 170,000 people = $6.8 mil.

Book it.

Hahaha, if the Rolling Stones cost 6.8mil they better be giving out handies
Posted by wompwomp on May 14, 2012, 4:49pm
Didn't Prince get like 4mil a few years back?

For two Stones shows, I feel like they could easily grab over 6mil.

Welp. Better do the payment plan. I can afford it this year.

If you saw where Sigur Ros is booked at Lollapalooza and Outside Lands, you wouldn't pick them as a headliner.

They are mid-headliner at best...They are great and all but they aren't going to attract large audiences...

We are in for more Dre's than Sigur Ros' in the near future...As long as they keep selling tickets, there will be One big reunion/classic act, One modern/finally made it act, One huge Hip-hop/dance act as headliners...

Headliners:
Drake
Pearl Jam
Rolling Stones

Sub-headliners:
Sigur Ros
Stone Roses
Phoenix

Friday night mainstage electro act:
Daft Punk (unlikely), deadmau5, or Skrillex.

I don't really give a shit about any of my headliner picks, but they make sense. Coachella has seemed to pigeonhole themselves in this expectation of one hip-hop headliner, so if not Drake, there will surely be another one. Both Pearl Jam and the Rolling Stones have been a long time coming. Maybe both of them won't make their Coachella debut next year, but I would bet that at least one of them will. The sub-headliners (sans Pheonix, yuck) interest me a lot more, and also make sense. Sigur Ros will be touring their new album and will be preparing to release their followup, and the Stone Roses will have already taken care of their European festival obligations, so HOPEFULLY they'll cross the pond for us. The mainstage electro act WILL be one of those artists. Daft Punk is obviously a pipe dream. I doubt they will ever actually play Coachella again. While I believe they would be one of the biggest draws of the weekend, there's no reason to bill them as a headliner now that they have a mainstage EDM set every Friday. I think it could easily be a tossup between the other two, though. If deadmau5 debuts his new setup like he's rumored to be working on, then I think he would have the edge over Skrillex, but Skrillex is also quickly becoming more popular and a bigger money maker than deadmau5, so who knows.
