This is happening at Coachella. WHAT THE FUCK? Awesome. I think. These guys are so great. Definitely a strange fit for a festival, though.

As I've texted Paul Toilet earlier tonight, if you know nothing of Nick Cave, spend 12 minutes listening to "More News From Nowhere," followed by "No Pussy Blues." Then you'll understand the lyrical genius of Nick Cave on the former, and the dirty scratchy rock of Grinderman on the belt sander.

The Live Seeds album is basically a greatest hits, so I would recommend listening to the studio version of each song on that album. Those are his songs stuck in my head at all times.

Dead Can Dance (and Nick Cave) are more than anyone can expect from any lineup ever; aside from that, I'm not gonna read all these posts until tomorrow but my verdict is basically HAHA BURN. Squatch tickets are gonna be a hot commodity this year, I think.

However, if I paid eleventy billion dollars to go to Coachella and I got to hear Dead Can Dance play 'The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove', that'd be eleventy billion dollars well spent.

This song has been at the core of my brain since I was like fifteen.

Okay, actually there's some incredible shit on there. Moby? The Femmes? God damn motherfuckin' Dead Can Dance. But that undercard peters out after the second tier. Honestly at first blush it looks like Sasquatch 2011.

The Bad Seeds' greatest hits comp is one of maybe half a dozen (Simon & Garfunkel Greatest Hits, The Best of Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Boingo Alive, a couple others) of its kind that is great enough to stand on its own. Y'all know my stance on Greatest Hits comps, but that one is genius.

If anyone wants to get weird and sweaty with me really early in the day on Saturday, check out Huoratron, who I've dug for a few years.

Also, I've been waiting for years for an excuse to try to digest the Sparks discography. That's a very Coachella get. Sparks, Descendents, Dead Can Dance - very Coachella bands.

Real talk. Didn't realize "Gone Daddy Gone" was a Violent Femmes song. Totally thought it was Cee Lo and Danger Mouse originally. Whoops.

And OMD!

I posted it yesterday, put you just made me want to post again about how jealous I am about OMD. I am a lot jealous.

OMD is going to be a blast. IF YOU LEAAVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE

I'm going to be digging into a lot of bands in the next few months, OMD being one. Where to start?

Passes on sale Tuesday, regular passes are sold out. Looks like GA + Shuttle passes are available and they have a new thing combining passes and camping spots that look like they are available.

Honestly with this lineup, I don't think it will be a challenge to get tickets on the secondary market. They have already dropped about $50 on stubhub since yesterday.

I would definitely have to go with Architecture and Morality. Joan of Arc and Maid of Orleans are beautiful representations of all that was right with new wave.

Dazzle Ships is probably front to back my favorite 80's album. A mix of the melodic romanticism OMD is most famous for (see The Romance of the Telescope and Silent Running) coupled with the quirky greatness of ABC Auto-Industry and Genetic Engineering.

and for you drew, this little nugget

OMD is so much more than If You Leave.
