Well I had to leave because my friend was stuck in Portland with no ride home. But before we left, we discovered how easy it is to get into the Roseland without buying a ticket. We just flashed our stamps and went right up stairs. We walked into one of the douchiest shows possible. Some rapper named Andre Nickatina. The crowd mostly consisted of 15 year old boys and girls. Throughout the show, Andre kept shouting "PUT YO HANDS UP IF YOU LIKE DRUGS AND ALCHOHOOOOOOL." The kids seemed to love that, because the room went nuts.

So yeah, it was pretty terrible. I was pretty entertained though.

CRACK RAIDER!

Nickatina's legit. His early stuff is solid gangsta hip-hop (I guess that's what I'd call it). Used to go by the name Dre Dog. Huge in the DIY bay area rap scene. I will agree that he draws a young suburban thug crowd, but so do most touring hip hop acts.

Anyway I had to stick up for my boy.

I'M A PISCES BUT I'D RATHER BE A KILLER WHALE!

To all you motha fuckas who just can't tell...

I heard a lot of Andre in college and have a soft spot for him, too.

So Geno went to see some crappy junior high rap dude instead of hanging out with all of us.

Roger that.

I am impressed by your knowledge of the OG Gangsta Shit. I missed him when he came through Missoula. Not sure if I can deal with the Gangta crowd anymore. I am tempted to go to the Tech N9ne show at the Wilma, so I can check out Brotha Lynch Hung though. Brotha Lynch is the very definition of a sick ass rapper.

Yo HG, King Nicky's been in the game sine the early 90's, he's a legend in the rap game. You may well be a legend in the game too, but Geno's apparent mishap could have been worse. He could have ended up at a Kings of Leon show.

I grew up in the burbs outside of Oakland. Have listened to Andre since I was in middle school. Have seen him three times over a span of fifteen years. Hell I even smoked a blunt with him outside of the Six Rivers Brewery (Arcata, CA) way back in 2000.

Oh yeah, and I did go to that Wilma show. It was fun. But as Geno mentioned, the crowd was whack.

I grew up in the burbs outside of Oakland too, but I was listening to the Kinks and Jethro Tull and Pink Floyd.

I feel like I came out ahead.

I did not say that I didn't listen to other music. I also grew up listening to The Talking Heads, The Cure and XTC, among others (my mother was/is New Wave). My parents even went through a Country phase (thankfully that never caught on).

It's just Talking Heads.

I could only see my dick shirt from an aerial view; likewise Burrito. You had the best vantage point.

At his height, Wonk has an aerial view of pretty much everything, me thinks.

Buuuuuurn! Oh shit, am I going to get burned for using too many vowels there?

Gramma, you might appreciate the fact that I own "Stand Up" "Benefit" and "Aqualung" on vinyl.
