Topic Summary

I get Friendly D's references about 90% of the time; if he's anything like me, I think his modus operandi is to make the fucking joke and not care who gets it because it's funny either way.

Not always the best thing to do.

This one time at work they were working on the plumbing and they had just finished doing all of the caulking. I waited until a lot of people were around and said loudly 'It smells like caulk in here.' No one laughed.
Posted by Horned Gramma on Sept 8, 2011, 6:43pm
I would have laughed my ass off. The caulk/cock joke is funny every time.
Posted by Souly on Sept 8, 2011, 6:46pm
Never gets old. I think the problem is that everyone I work with is 16 and have never seen caulk. I however, had seen tons of caulk by the age of 16. I was a master of the caulk so to speak.

When you got cracks to seal up, really nothing else will do.
Posted by Souly on Sept 8, 2011, 6:52pm
BAHAHAH I can't follow that. I'm laughing so hard right now.

A) You think you're one of the only people that really really liked that album? You should meet more people. I think it's generally regarded as being in the canon by most folks, in spite of the fact that HG is ambivalent towards it.

B) I think it's funny that people stress out over ordering their lists, as if someone's going to hold them to it someday, or report their preferences to the bands. "The Strokes are pissed at me!"

A) I just find most people will talk about how brilliant Funeral is and The Suburbs is getting all this great praise and the Grammy but, more often than not, I'll put Neon Bible on over the other two. But yeah, you're right, I do need to meet more people who like the kind of music I like. Most of my IRL friends had no idea who Arcade Fire were before a few months ago, let alone me being able to discuss which album of theirs I prefer.

B) The stress is totally all self-directed. I just can't pick one album over another. It's like trying to pick a favorite kid; I might like one a little more than the other at times but at the end of the day I love them all the same. Plus, I wanna post the list like today or tomorrow and if I were to wait until I ordered it, it could take months with the amount of times I change my mind.

I'm a total idiot. While reading Neon Bible I was thinking Funeral that whole time. I am nuts. Yeah, you're right, Neon Bible is considered their sophomore slump by most (although reading reviews for the Suburbs, I started to feel like it was one of those things where everyone was saying, "Neon Bible was underrated!" but when everyone says that it means that it wasn't really underrated, you know?")

#10 Arcade Fire - Neon Bible

I like that you put this on here, and so high up. Sometimes I think I'm one of the only people that really really liked this album.

I think I'm gonna wuss out and just post my list in alphabetical order. It's far too stressful trying to order the damn thing.

I almost put Neon Bible ahead of Funeral, but in the end I think Funeral left more of an impression on me so thats why it ended up ahead.

Ordering it is pretty pointless anyway. If I had the same 50 albums in alphabetical order and tried to order them again everything out of the top 10 would probably jump up or down 5 spots depending on my mood.

I love the Fever Ray album, but just never got around to checking out any of The Knife's material. Listening to Silent Shout now and loving it.

Friendly, are you saying you've never listened to this album either?

"We Share Our Mothers' Health," isn't my favorite song on the album, but when I first bought my Bose Toyse headphones, the first 45 seconds of that song was what I played for all of my friends to brag about how awesome the headphones are.
