Topic Summary

I don't have a top 10 yet, but I always refer to my imaginary top 10 never seen, so let's all put it out there. No Jeff Buckleys or 2Pacs allowed. After we all mention the greatest bands we've never seen live, it will be easier to rank them. Everyone likes crossing names off lists, right?

The first couple names that come to mind are:

Pulp
Tom Waits
Blur
Gorillaz
Jay-Z

Gorillaz are fucking awesome. I paid $106 for floor seats and shitty NERD was opening which I missed half of and it was still totally worth it. Jay-Z also fucking kills it and puts on a great show.

Off the top of my head a few I would love to see (in no particular order)

The Strokes (just because I love Room on Fire and Is This It? so much, I dont even know if they are all that good live)
Daft Punk
Pulp (yes I stole that one from Know)
Muse
Gogol Bordello
Queens of the Stone Age

The Pixies
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Those two are the ones that immediately come to mind. I will have to think harder about the others.

Here are 12 that I would be so excited for and at the same time don't think I will ever see.

Tom Waits
Brian Eno
Gorillaz
Peter Gabriel
Pixies
Moxy Fruvous
Fiery Furnaces
MF Doom
cLOUDDEAD
Hip Tanaka
The Philistines Jr.
Mr. Bungle

Fiery Furnaces are 10 times as amazing as you could hope for live. Next time there's even a remote chance, do that shit up.

Mother Fucking Prince
Daft Punk
Bowie
The Cure
Elvis Costello (although I will be seeing him in about a month and a half. AWESOME)
Girl Talk
The Knife
Justice
Tribe Called Quest
Fuck Buttons

David Bowie
Tom Waits
BJORK (I'm embarrassed I've never seen her. Hoping to remedy that next year)
The Strokes
Nick Cave (any iteration)
Joanna Newsom
Olivia Tremor Control/Circulatory System
Belle and Sebastian
Hot Chip
Sufjan Stevens

Those are the ones that come to mind right away - just looking through my ichunes favorite artists. I'm embarrassed that I haven't seen about half that list, especially Bjork and Joanna Newsom, because I'm a devotee of both of them.

Ooooh Prince is a good one.

I forgot about the Knife and Daft Punk, easily top ten. I don't think Bowie will ever happen, so I'm not including him. The Cure are outstanding. If you haven't had the chance to see Girl Talk and Fuck Buttons, that's your fault. Justice was ok. I've had two arguments with someone on this board who thinks Elvis is headliner worthy at Sasquatch. He's two different dudes live, one part scumbag punk god, and two parts pop pop pop catchy song dude. I much prefer the former, so I didn't like his show.

I saw Bowie back in '96. It was entertaining as hell.

I particularly liked the (NSFW reading coming up here folks) full on porno cumshots on the video screen during Fame, juxtaposed with the little girls watching from Daddy's shoulders.

"Daddy, what's she DOING?"

So so so bad...

I saw Bjork in 2003 I think in Montreal, outdoors. Blew my mind. Definitely see her if you have the chance.

I saw them in 2008, I wasnt really blown away, but they were pretty good. That being said at the time I didnt know a whole bunch of their music.

Well one of the things I love about Fiery Furnaces is that their live shows are about as unpredictable as unpredictable gets musically. The only thing you would recognize of their songs from recordings would be the lyrics and that's about it. They completely rework their songs for their tours. Matthew Friedberger is a mad genius.
