Can't imagine what that is going to sound like in that little place, and how the bass will feel.

Holy shit that was a fun show. I did bring earplugs, and they kind of dulled the sound too much. I spent about half Excision's set on the balcony, and half on the floor. That half close to the stage hammered my ears drums pretty good. If I spent the entire set on the floor I would have probably had to do earplugs.

Tomorrow I am going to switch it up completely, and go to the In Flames show at the same venue.

I forget this is the EDM thread, not Upcoming Shows. My bad.

So I've sampled enough Wolfgang Gartner to decide I should buy an album. Starting point anyone?

The only LP of his that I've heard was his newest one....and frankly I think it sucks. So I would personally direct you away from it, but if others recommend it then I say go for it.

So you mostly like him for his singles then? Hmm... I've heard maybe 2 songs off of the album and one was good and the other kinda meh. He does have other LPs right? I did a quick amazon search before I left and the new one was the only full album I saw.

I first got turned on to him from this track he did with deadmau5, and then yea just a combination of singles, remixes, and live videos are what got me really excited about him.

I don't think these mixes are copyrighted, so hopefully it's ok that I post this here, but this is one of his recent Essential Mixes from 2010 I believe. This will give you an idea of what kind of set to expect from him.

EDIT: Eeeek, the sound quality isn't the best on it, sorry.

Wolfgang is an entirely different animal live than on record. He has an extremely deep catalog of music and his mixing is flawless. I would highly suggest listening to his essential mix from 2010, I also really like this set from a WMC pool party: http://www.funkyhousemusic.com/2010/04/0....beach-wmc-2010/

I realize those are a bit older, but he has stayed true to himself and continues to play phenomenal house sets with awesome surprises and innovative material every time I've seen him. His latest single There And Back worries me a bit as it seems to be an attempt to get into the wildly popular progressive house segment but I respect him for experimenting and I just hope he doesn't start pushing his livesets that way.

Here's a set from last July, I haven't listened to it yet as I'm downloading it right meow but I'm sure it is a good one. ;D

His Coachella set from 2010 was phenomenal and can be viewed in full on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nm8xzUOmjY0&hd=1

He's my favorite DJ and I can't wait to get down to his funky sounds with all you fools. 8-)

Wolfgang's mah boy. Listening to the Tomorrowland set, it's solid.

Damn frush thanks for all the info, I was just looking for an album to listen to, now I feel like I know the guy. Really hope he isn't conficting with someone I want to see, he seems like exactly what I want from an EDM set.

Thefrush, you just got me even more excited for his set. Can't wait for this in the banana shack.

His essential mixes are SOFA KING rad. I listened to a couple of them last night. Definitely a better way to get hyped up for his set than his album. Truth be told, he's the #1 reason I decided to bite the bullet and buy a pass. I can't wait to arrive at the Gorge, park my car, and bolt straight into the shack.
