So, they say "2 Unique Experiences". Which for me translates into "2 different line-ups, and we're splitting the good acts across both weekends SO YOU NEED TO BUY TICKETS TO BOTH!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Unrelated, as I've given the new deadmau5 album a couple of listens, it's growing on me. A lot more than Bassnectar's latest effort which feels kinda flat compared to Divergent Spectrum.
Some dude I know on Facebook posted a video of some band doing a pretty convincing live re-creation of some Skrillex song. One of his lil' buddies was like, Dude! How is he making that guitar do the bass drop like that?
It's a fucking bass guitar, dude. People used to drop the bass with those things, like, a couple times a month even.
I'd go dig up the video, but that requires more energy than I think I'm willing to expend for an anecdote that involves Skrillex.
I know the vid you're talking about. The bass player does have a glove on his fret hand and some device on his other thumb that does some kind of dubstep feedback wubwubwub effect.
And if that glove doesn't do anything specific to the sound, that bass player is the biggest douchenozzle known to music........ next to Fred Durst anyways.
Upon further research the thing on his thumb is actually a midi player that runs through a pedal to make that sound. Pretty neat. And upon finding some other videos the kid actually has some talent.
Now he just needs to lose the glove and the dubstep.

Hey ya'll, we sound like Skrillex without the play button. Like us on Facebook.

This is why Skrillex is one of the greatest living guitarists
