I just saw this and don't really have much to add (lots of responses!) but I wanted to say I am super incredibly jealous you get to see Tomahawk.

I caught a bit of the Jezabels at Osheaga and they sounded pretty good. If I had a brick to throw at Kreashawn I would go see her, otherwise I would go see the Riverboat Gamblers.

Album suggestions? They must be good if you added the obligatory "fucking" in their name.

It's a weird fucking lineup. That's for sure.

It matches my style more than most on this board. There are not many of us who appreciate hip hop as much as we appreciate punk/metal/thrash/Edward Sharpe. It's like a Coachella lineup minus the top two lines of each day, which is why I get free beer and food for the same price as a Coachella pass.

That is why I asked ya'll for help. It isn't inherently obvious Tomahawk is Michael Patton, just like it isn't inherently obvious Public Image LTD is Johnny Rotten. People need to know this shit when attending a festival full of bands they've never heard of.

Colors. Definitely. Although they'll probably be playing stuff from their new album, which after I few albums I already rank as their second best. Colors is their masterpiece though. I don't remember if you're into metal or not, but they're one of the best bands in the metalcore genre. They're progressive metalcore, so their sound shifts all over the place.

Oh yes, I dig Metal. I have the first four Metallica albums memorized, and my favorite metal album will always be Slayer's Divine Intervention (blind my eyes, I can't see). When most of my music listening started occurring at work, bands like Wilco ruled my world. The only metal bands I really listen to these days are High On Fire, Baroness, Mastodon (mostly because the major music sites recommended them) and Aggaloch. I don't think Deftones are metal, but I've been into them for days also.

Yes, I like the song you posted. It reminded me an old friend who would only listen to metal, but I can't remember all the bands he made me listen to. Death and a TON of Hypocricy, those I remember. I also remember loving the shit out of Cradle of Filth.

I don't listen to much metal anymore, but Between the Buried and Me are still the shit. I overlooked them on that schedule.

Colors is not their masterpiece.

Hahaha

The Silent Circus, yo.
Posted by Pea on Oct 25, 2012, 3:51pm
Alaska, yo. And since that's where wonk hails from I think it's a perfect starting point.

Alaska is my favorite, but I thought peeps were freaks for the old shit.

*I was thinking classic, not masterpiece. Alaska is definitely their masterpiece.
Posted by Pea on Oct 25, 2012, 4:02pm
Fuck yes to all of that.
Posted by Geno on Oct 25, 2012, 4:30pm
I wasn't sure if Wonk was into metal enough to appreciate Alaska. It's a little too chaotic for a lot of people.

But yeah, Alaska is amazing as well.
