I don't know, that lineup looks pretty awesome to me:
Explosions in the sky, Santigold, The Black Angels, Why?, BMSR, OMAR!!, Trail of dead, A place to bury strangers, fang island, Japandroids, Torche, Earth, Red Fang, Deafheaven, Pallbearer, David Cross, Jon Benjamin
Those are the ones that I would catch for sure (barring conflicts obviously)
Of the acts on the bill that I care about, the only ones that I haven't seen are BMSR and Tomahawk.
But fuck it, for free beer and Mike Patton I'd fly to Texas.
God damn, Dwarves too? Alright, have fun then.
In case you didn't notice, the festival is broken down by days, ghetto blaster/records/skull. It makes sense most of you (and a large percent of festival goers) wouldn't care too much for the ghetto blaster and skull days. There are very few of us who appreciate both genres and their related subs.
I've seen most of the bands I want to see live, and this festival happens to have a large handful of bands I've never gotten around to seeing, such as...
A$ap Rocky Bun B The Octopus Project Public Image LTD. Superchunk The Black Angels Minus The Bear Deerhoof Lucero Atlas Sound Cursive Givers Yellow Ostrich A Place To Bury Strangers FANG MUTHA FUCKIN ISLAND Tubonegro X Fucked Up Tomahawk The Sword Napalm Death Red Fang
That is a much larger list than I can make at a festival focusing on pop/indie.
Add Refused, MUTHA FUCKING RUN DMC, De La Soul, and you have yourself a fantastic smaller music festival.
And if I wanted to keep going, I would add the acts I've already seen who I've either enjoyed, or fucking loved:
Girl Talk STRFKR Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Explosions in the Sky Santigold Bob Mould Surfer Blood Paul Banks Why? Black Moth Super Rainbow Omar AYWKUBTTOD TITUS MUTHA FUCKIN ADRONICUS NOMEANSNO OFF! Baroness Japandroids
This festival is fucking rad. I just named about 40 bands I want to see. So while you are all wet and cold in the heart of the NW winter, I'll be experiencing 80+ temps near the border.
In other words Gramma, what I'm really trying to tell you is that you can't make 100% of your decisions based on what you want to do 100% of the time. You're married, you should know.
Looks pretty great to me (which should probably change your mind about it; there will be people like me there). The free beer seems too good to be true though. Does it say anywhere else that it is unlimited free beer? Or are they just going to scam you and say "Here's your free beer!" and give you a tiny cup for the day like that place we went to in Amsterdam?
Austin is just an awesome city to be in regardless. That lineup is stellar too. The idea that you get to go to the show and get free beer for basically the same price as Sasquatch is kind of absurd when you think about it.
