Okay so far so good, some guy talking ominously about the origin of man in a lizard-alien species and the Garden of Eden and crazy shit.

The first track, Firewall, is actually pretty decent. Slow buildup, some cool atmospheric things going on. I dig it.

One minute into the boring intro to Shell Games and BOOM, synths and tims, all 80's.

Oh Jesus, that song really doesn't improve. Oberst's quavery voice makes him sound like a zitty 17 year old being forced to do karaoke to Modern English.

Banging first five seconds of "Jejune Stars," and then...downhill again

"The wheel of becoming erases the physical mind..." wtf

Oh Jesus that song sucked
Posted by DREW OF THE RUSHES on Feb 1, 2011, 1:31pm
At least it ends with the crazy guy talking again

"Now you are / how you were / when you were / real"

Now this sounds like the Conor Oberst I know...

More samples on "Approximate Sunlight," probably the only redeeming feature of this album so far. Song still sucks.

Okay that shit is over, NEXT please
Posted by DREW OF THE RUSHES on Feb 1, 2011, 1:36pm
Some crunchy guitar riffs open "Haile Selassie"
Posted by DREW OF THE RUSHES on Feb 1, 2011, 1:36pm
"You've got a soul / use it!" Jesus Christ I can't take much more of this shit
