First exposure to the Rural Alberta Advantage: 'In the Summertime'. Was really feelin' it for a full 90 seconds unti he went into his upper register and started sounding way too much like Billy 'Teagarden' Corgan.

Second impression: 'Don't Haunt This Place'. I see what you guys mean about this drummer. I like the female vocalist very much, really balances out the other guy in a Hutch and Kathy kinda way. Cellos are always welcome.
edit: I love this song. |

| 'The Ballad of the RAA' - I love it when a band writes a song that references the name of the band in the title. This guy makes up for his voice being terrible with sheer confidence. |

Got my download code this morning and listened to the album a couple of times on my way into work...GREAT!!! Standouts so far include: "Two Lovers", "Stamp", "North Star" and Good Night". Can't wait to listen to it again on my way home.
This is an amazing week for music! Picking up new albums by Drive-By Truckers, Mogwai and The Dears later today...and then RADIOHEAD ON SATURDAY!!! Nothing could ruin this week. |

I got the download code but was nowhere near my computer. Still haven't gotten it. Hoping at some point tonight I'll have a few spare minutes to download it and throw it on my ipod.
HAPPY RAA DAY!!! |

| Oh I have it on my iPod right now. I'm a little disappointed after one listen - second half is way better than the first, though. It doesn't have the same energy. But it might be a grower. |

| I think it's a grower. I'm liking it more with multiple listens. |

I don't agree that his voice is terrible, however I do know exactly what you mean. There are parts of certain songs where he gets a bit off track and I start to cringe. But he just keeps chuggin' along like that's the only way it could ever, and should ever sound. And after a while you start to buy into it and believe it. |
