the last two Wilco shows I worked I fell asleep at. If I was asleep and someone put me at a Wilco show, I would likely go into a coma. I don't get their live appeal at all. So really I hope not. But if that winds up being so, the other stage will probably entertainment.
STOP BEING SO BORING WILCO, THAT CHORUS IS NOT EVEN MEMORABLE OR CATCHY, IT MAKES ME COMAS!!!
UHG, ENOUGH WITH YOUR INTRIGUING FIRST LINES AND ABILITY TO KEEP TIME AND DARE I SAY GRACE AMONGST UNSETTLING NOISE AND CHAOS. INTERESTING THINGS MAKE ME ALL COMAS.
I totally agree. The funny thing is that my brother told me the same thing when I took him to a Wilco concert a few years ago. He said "oh, it was okay but I fell asleep for the first half". I was pretty pissed. I was on the edge of my seat and in a musical euphoric trance the whole time, even during their slow songs. Sunken treasure....yes please. "I am so out of chune...with you." I would definately be cool with Wilco at Sasquatch. Hell yes.
Yes. These aren't even my favorite songs by Wilco, more just to illustrate a point. Everything off of Summerteeth is the shit! Tweedy has a Brian Wilson like ear for melody at times and should really show it off more. Also stuff like Theologians and Wishful Thinking are awesome!
Look at me giving him songwriting advice! What a tooooool.
It took me a while. I thought Wilco was boring the first couple years I tried to listen to them. It was Summerteeth that finally got my ear, not Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
Nels Cline on the guitar and Tweedy's comments between songs the first time I saw them live sold me. Now, they are one of my can't misses. It helps if you have some appreciation for their chunes, because they are not all upbeat.
I first heard of Wilco when they covered Steely Dan's "Any Major Dude Will Tell You" and loved that. A few years later, a friend told me to check out Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and I could never to this day really get into it. Then, last year, a guy at work lent me Sky Blue Sky (telling me it was their best cd). I'm glad I borrowed it, because I'm back into Wilco again. I just love the classic rock/ allman brother feel to it.
When did Summerteeth come out? Is it even better than what I've heard?
I signed up for that BMG Record Club 12 CDs for a Penny thing when I was like sixteen and they accidentally sent me a copy of 'Being There' instead of, like, something else that I ordered. So 'Being There' is still my favorite.
'Summerteeth' is better than anything that's come after 'Yankee Hotel Foxtrot'. And if you don't like YHF then yer probably not actually a human being.
Being There is dense. It takes some patience, but it's one of their best. YHF is my favorite, and I don't care if it's the one Pitchfork jizzed all over, it's just a great album. Summerteeth is top three. And A Ghost Is Born is pretty solid as well, though I didn't think that when it came out.
