Nah. I was commenting to Stormy the other night that like eleven months out of the year I have no real desire to listen to The National, but then one month out of the year -- and it's not always the same month -- they're kinda all I want to hear. I had a love affair with the National a couple years ago that rivaled my love affair with R.E.M. about a decade before. I really dig the National, I just don't always want or need 'em.
I DID just discover High Violet, though. I gave it half a dozen cursory listens when it came out and I wasn't too thrilled with it, so I do the thing that I do where I set it aside for 12-18 months and Dr. Garbanzoure it will ingratiate itself with me when it can. Pulled it out to listen to 'Anyone's Ghost' after the Philistines Jr. covered it and found that it is actually a tremendous record. |
