Went down a U2 rabbit hole for some reason last night. Man, Achtung Baby is a damn near perfect album.
Posted by Horned Gramma on Sept 12, 2012, 11:33am
They had a perfect streak from 1983 until 1991. I'm a Zooropa apologist, but Achtung was the last great album they'll ever record.

We were listening to Rattle & Hum the other day; it is so weird to think how important U2 used to be, and how fucking cool Bono used to be. Dude was a giant.

Peelin' off those dollar bills an' slappin' em down. ONE hunnert. TWO hunnert.

I've never heard of any of these bands.

I agree that Achtung was U2's finest work. I'm curious what you mean by a Zooropa apologist, though. I thoroughly enjoy Zooropa, and even like Pop (I know, I know...). Everything since Pop has fallen completely flat for me, to the point that I didn't even bother to purchase No Line on the Horizon.

Maybe we need to think of U2's glory days the same way we think about The Matrix: it's a shame they never made any sequels.

New Adventures in Hi-Fuck

By Zooropa apologist, I mean that that album was the very clear beginning of the end. It's a good record, but it's a terrible U2 record. It's silly.
