Topic Summary

Hmm I've always for some reason neglected Animals so its high time I dive right into it. I'd probably have Atom Heart Mother around that high on my list as well. That album is sofa king good through and through.

Dark Side of the Moon is the most perfect album ever recorded. Not a single note out of place. Perfect.

Animals is fucking amazing. Meddle is underappreciated -- a modest masterpiece. And do check out The Final Cut, but not when you're in a Pink Floyd mood. It's more of a Roger Waters solo record, but it is also unofficially The Wall, Disc Three.

'One of These Days', the opening track on Meddle, is one of my most favorite Floyd chunes. It is big and mean and scary; the one spoken line in that song sends chills down my spine every single time I have ever heard it. I remember hearing it for the first time when I was about sixteen on a pair of big ol' studio monitor headphones and it was so exciting to me that I couldn't even sit still.

I remember my dad playing that full volume when I was like 8. Changed my world...fucking love that song.

As if I haven't had enough live festival music in the last few days, I am now sitting here watching Metallica's ORION festival. It's pretty fun actually. Metallica may be self indulgent, but they are great live.

What are you thinkin' 'bout this one these days? I remember you saying that you liked it but weren't overly impressed. Do you love it now???????

I think I still love "Axis of Evol" more, but actually owning it on vinyl made "Outside love" so much better.

Sometimes I feel that if you crank "Outside Love" loud enough it can put you in a dream state. Love that album so much.
