I've got no client meetings today at work. This is way more productive than colouring in unicorns with highlighters.

Yeah, that one was easy for me to pick. It's been my #1 song of all time since, well, Automatic for the People was released really.

The only reason I never actually posted a list was because every time I tried I got to 50 in like 25 seconds, and couldn't narrow it down. I might sit down and try a little harder some time soon.

This sounds was harder than the top 50 albums of the 00's for some reason. Maybe becase there are roughly 50x as many choices. I might make an effort at it over the next week or so.
Also, souly you have 2 songs called "All My Friends" on there. Just found that interesting.

I wanted to put the songs in alphabetical order so they would be together, but I decided against it. They are both awesome songs.

Nope. Sorry guys. I tired. There is absolutely no way I can narrow it down to 40. It would take me weeks.

GOD DAMMIT IT'S 40?!?!?!
I thought it was 50 and was at 54 and then I hit Velvet Underground and The Who. I thought I was actually gunna pull it off, oh well, editing and possible ranking of the top 10 tomorrow.
Edit: Knowing this I'm tempted to just put 40 Licks and call it, but I've put in too much effort to not at least try and cut it down.

I think my problem is that I have too hard of a time distinguishing favorite songs of the moment from favorite songs of all time. For instance, at this moment in my life, I think M83's "Midnight City" is just as important to me as The Doobie Brothers' "Listen to the Music," but one has been a favorite of mine for more than two decades, and the other for less than a year. I just think I have too fast of a revolving door of new cherished songs to make a proper mix of new and old favorites.
/over-thinking this.
