I was more just laughing at the whole thing in general, especially when the Maloy visuals iced the cake on the whole unexpected "How gross are the Maloys" discussion. The poor Maloys. They are talented though.

On one serious note (and this ain't directed at you Drew). I do have serious sympathy for talented women who constantly have to hear about their looks in reviews (good or bad). Especially when the review is directed at their work. Seems unfair that Grossy McGross Colin Maloy gets to be all famous and talented without his looks ever being mentioned (that is until his grossness was pointed out in this thread). Add to the fact that he still gets to be born all gross and stuff, yet still has no problem becoming famous. This, unfortunately, is not yet the case for most of our amazing women out there.
Sorry y'all, just food for thought from your Friendly Stick in the Mud.

Someone who talks a lot about this in her music is chune-yards. She played last year, I left Tallest Man on Earth early to see her because I love her first album so much. But I think she'd be a little more popular in the indie-universe if she looked more like, say Feist, or Zooey.

Feist is my Kryptonite. Despite all my talk and what not, I think I would fall head over heels for reaggaton if Feist was a reaggaton artist.

That's awesome. I worry that if they start recording in January, May will be too early to start a tour. But that might not be the case, I really have no idea.

Hey Know,
Shara Worden just put out an album with Sarah Kirkland Snider (you know, Sarah Kirkland Snider! right? maybe. Pitchfork.) Anyways if the restraining order has been lifted perhaps you can catch her tour this or some MBD in the near future. Just don't actually catch her, okay?

Oh, I get it. I was in a rush this morning and didn't have time to google those two names I didn't recognize. My Brightest Diamond, yes, I have made at least two posts proclaiming my admiration for her. Thanks for noticing, and thanks for the heads up.
I'm pretty sure I'll be allowed entrance. I caught, er, saw her perform with Sufjan and the Decemberists over the last couple years, with no questioning at the door.

Shara is very compelling. I'm a fan too. Saw that Sufjan tour as well, good good stuff.

It's been mentioned, but I've been listening to that James Blake s/t lp on repeat, and it is deliriously good. I like it better than the Mount Kimbie full-length, which I didn't think would happen.
Someone said earlier that dubstep owes everything to Burial or something like that, and while that's still true, this is just as good if not better.

I said that before the James Blake full length came out. His album is the first "post-dubstep" (or whatever the fuck they're calling this genre) album to really take what burial was doing and expand on it.
