And -- I've been saying this every time they have toured for the last decade, but the likelihood of it being true increases every year -- there is a good chance that this will be your last chance to see The Residents. This is the reason that I have been encouraging everyone I know to attend, regardless of their level of familiarity.

Crazily, between the Portland and Seattle shows, I have convinced between twenty-five and thirty people to check this shit out. Regardless of their marginalized status, the Residents are bona fide legends. They have likely directly or indirectly influenced more than half of the musicians you listen to.

I know that this is another in a series of Horned Gramma Waxes Poetic About the Residents posts, but I strongly urge you to set your uncertainty aside. Someday, you'll be either glad to say that you saw them when you had the chance, or sad to say that you had the opportunity and you let it pass you by. Plus, like, half the board is going to be there wearing our most deranged party faces, so if nothing else there's that.

Yissss. This is the clip that I most often show people who don't know a single thing about them. This is from the Demons Dance Alone tour, which was the first Residents show that I saw. Ten years ago, diggity damn. An incredibly powerful performance. This is one of their absolute finest moments.
