It looks a lot like the amphitheater in Marymoor Park outside of Seattle. I absolutely love outdoor shows in settings like that.

Edgefield is neat because it's not just a music venue, it's this whole big property that McMenamins owns outside of Portland. It's like a big cluster of hotels, bars and restaurants and stuff. And you can carry your drinks anywhere on the property!

That sounds wonderful! I'm thinking I'll have to make a full day out of it and explore the area a bit before the show.

just read an interview with Bon Iver (or more specifically Justin Vernon) and it pissed me off.

This is an album about places -- including Calgary. What's behind that song? It doesn't seem to be directly about Calgary.

Each song is different. Calgary is a place I've never been, for example. So I was able to look at it in a certain way. It's like a wedding-vow song between two people that haven't met. Having never been to Calgary, you tend to beautify it or put it into some form in your mind. When I think of Calgary, I think of an isolated capital city. I think about the Rockies. I think about high places. I've always sort of dreamt about it. So Calgary became this place that true love comes from.

It's not a capital city. That sentence right there angers me so much that I will probably never be able to give their new record a fair shake.

I love me some Edmonton, and I get angry when people forget we exist.

^Klond**e Days hasn't existed for like 6 years.

This isn't an Edmonton vs Calgary thread though. Unless you want to talk about all the shows that skip Calgary because the Saddledome is insufficient for lots of big touring acts with major stage setups, or how Edmonton can fit 20,000+ more in Commonwealth Stadium than Calgary can in McMahon...

I agree with you 100%!!! I can't stand the Saddledome and cannot wait until they build a better venue. I looked cool at first, now it's an eyesore. The layout sucks as its not very high and cannot accomodate large stages. Acoustically I'm sure it's average and similar to Rexall...I will compare when I see Pearl Jam in September at both venues.

Commonwealth is a great venue!
