I don't think I ever want to see I&W again unless Sam does a solo tour.

I don't understand how a band can have a lead single named Calgary and not play in Calgary on their tour. It just seems like whoever is booking the tour is not paying any attention at all.

Well they should come to Edmonton in that case. It's close to Calgary, and it wouldn't be hokey.

it's a place called the backstage. It's a tiny little room behind the capitol theater that holds maybe 250 people.I haven't been to the place since high school when I saw riveting shows such as Kane Hodder, United State of Electronica, and Schoolyard Heroes (to give you an idea of how weird this is).

I haven't seen trail of dead since sasquatch 06 and Source Tags and Codes was one of my favorite albums back in high school so it's a nice surprise to have them play here

That should be awesome dude! I saw a few quirky shows at this place called the Manium years ago in downtown Oly. I highly doubt it's still around.

Jealous you saw U.S.E. too...

SLED ISLAND kicks off tonight!!!!! Tonnes of shows lined up for the next four days, including some late night shows starting at 1:00am!!! Work on Thursday and FRiday is going to be grim. Brief breakdown of who I'm seeing:

Tonight - Pierced Arrows (former members of Dead Moon) AWESOME!
Thursday - Man Man with Seizure Salad and GOBBLE GOBBLE
Friday - C'mon / Bison B.C. / Buzzcocks / The Sword / Sleep / Kurt Vile and the Violators
Electric Six
Saturday - Alberta Cross / The Greenhornes / Twin Shadow / The Raveonettes / Minus the
Bear / The Dandy Warhols / Of Montreal / Times New Viking / Cursive

Plus a slew of local bands interspersed. Should be a great few days...followed by Black Keys next Wednesday.

Yeah man, looking forward to Saturday for sure.

Not sure if tonight will change since Blonde Redhead and Justin Townes Earle are also playing. I have my choice of loud, atmospheric or mellow country. Depends how I feel later I suppose.

The New Music lineup was a bit of a let down...not sure what I was expecting but it didn't grab me at all, except for SNFU.

You should try to see We Are The City if you can.. They are fantastic and always put on the best show. If I had any money at all I'd be down there for the show.

oh god the manium was the worst. It closed a few years ago but just recently reopened as a goth bar or something.

Back in high school I never missed an opportunity to see USE, probably saw them 4 or 5 times. It's too bad they broke up cause they were such a fun live band

Thanks for the recommendation. I may be able to squeeze them into my schedual between Sleep and the Electric Six show.
