Wow, that is a really good (and totally weird) compilation. It just goes to show how much 'smaller' music was in the 90's. A comp today with a list that disparate wouldn't exist. So many people have narrowed their field of taste down so far that the equivalent of a Chemical Brothers fan wouldn't go anywhere near the equivalent of a Manson fan.
Also: 'The Beautiful People' is an incredible song, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it 'big and shiny'.

Did anyone own the Dracula 2000 soundtrack? It was my first introduction to Slayer and Pantera, and pretty much my point of no return into the realms of metal. I still think the opening of Slayer's Bloodline is one of the most sinister sounding riffs ever written.
Tracklist:
"Ultra Mega" (Powerman 5000) "A Welcome Burden" (Disturbed) "Bloodline" (Slayer) "Metro" (System of a Down) "Heads Explode" (Monster Magnet) "Break You Down" (Godhead feat. Marilyn Manson) "One Step Closer" (Linkin Park) "Avoid the Light" (Pantera) "Otsego Undead" (Static-X) "Swan Dive" ((hed)p.e.) "Day by Day" (Taproot) "Malice" (Endo) "Blind World" (Flybanger) "Sober" (Half Cocked) "Your Disease" (Saliva)

Haha, I saw Powerman 5000 in like 1998. Opening for Primus. They were immediately upstaged by Buck-O-Nine:

Story about that CD, I actually bought it just after Dance Mix 94 came out (not long after the rest of the ones I posted). I bought 92, 93, and 94 at the same time. Of those, my favorite was/is 93.

I owned Tubthumper for like six months before I realized that the song 'Tubthumping' was a thing and that people were already over it. By that time, I was fucking obsessed with that record and I was all over it when they released their follow-up. |

Reminder: I bought Shhh soon after.

Played this song over and over:
And it's about Lenny Bruce! And it helped teach an 8-year-old dirty words including the fact that come and cum are two different words! Good times.
