I think it's a weird combination of people not listening to this album and not remembering The Reminder properly. The Reminder was not all "1 2 3 4," it was more "The Water" and "The Park" and "Brandy Alexander" and "Intuition," which is to say slow, sometimes brooding, and totally understated. This album is all those things, except none of these songs will be adapted for Sesame Street. It's really great.

Updated my original post to add Feist and The Throne.

Cut Copy is still my fave album of the year so far, definitely the one I have listened to the most.

My top 10 list for the year looks absolutely nothing like it did a couple of months ago, and my current frontrunner for album of the year wasn't even in my "halfway through the year" top 10 list. 2011 is ending up looking a lot better than I initially thought.

Yup same here. Opeth's new album is a little disappointing after listening to it a bunch of times. So now my album of the year pick is probably going to Primus, M83, or something else that was released earlier in the year.

I should really update mine too. It'll be pretty similar but I think I want to add SBTRKT, Real Estate, M83, and Main Attrakionz

The Weeknd is probably my favorite album of the year so far

first one. Thursday is pretty good but House of Balloons is sublime. I'm not really convinced the third one will come out this year considering it's almost november and we haven't heard anything yet

Yea House of Balloons is really beautiful. I really wish he would stop saying "nigga" so much in his music though. It is so unbelievably unnecessary and really keeps me from truly appreciating him.

Out of absolutely no where I've completely fallen head over heels in love with this Youth Lagoon's debut album, "The Year of Hibernation." Slowly turning into my favorite album of the year.

That album just seemed so boring to me, outside of "July". But I should probably give it another shot, as I was busy doing other things when I was listening.

It took about 3 listens before I really starting absorbing any of it. I've listened to it about 20 times now and it's still growing on me. Such a beautiful album.

I was going through some gnarly depression and insomnia all last week and that album single-handedly got me through it. I think it will always be special to me now because of that.

Yup, I feel like I've listened to that album 30 times, when in reality it's been four times. There isn't a bad song on the album.
