Take a pill, shax. No one said your opinion was wrong, just distasteful.

Nope. I clearly require all of them because I'm that mad. Perhaps we can work a trade for some of your energy bars?

you should just edit your original post and put a note at the bottom of it. The way i envisioned this was that everyone has their lists on the first couple pages and updates those so that you don't have to search through the whole thread

Made a bunch of changes to my list just now. It's shaping up to be a great year since it's May and I'm already having trouble narrowing my music down to a top 10. I noticeably didn't move goblin into my top 10 even though it was definitely the one I was most looking forward to. Might still get in there because I do like it quite a bit but it's hard to justify putting an album that is just plain difficult to listen to on my list.

Why?

I don't mind praising albums that are difficult listens but the album has to be really good for me to get over how difficult it is. In this case, we're talking about a 73 minutes album that begins with Tyler contemplating suicide and ends with him murdering all of his friends. In between there is consistent homophobia and misogyny over the darkest beats this side of hell hath no fury. When Tyler isn't being misogynistic, he turns his hate inwards and actually creates some really interesting songs but they're still dark as fuck. I'd be able to get over all this if the album didn't need about 20 minutes cut from it. There is a lot to like but it's kind of a sophomore slump because so much of the album is a reaction to his critics and this causes it to lose much of what made Bastard so original.

Still, about half of the album is really well done and will keep me coming back. I don't know if I'll grow to appreciate the other half and end up placing it on my top 10 or if I'll end up not listening to it at all because it's such a slog to get through it.

I've been playing Goblin in my car constantly since Tuesday. Some of it sort of just sucks, and makes you realize he's 19, and some of it's fucking brilliant, and makes you realize everyone else in hip hop is WAAAAY older than 19 and incapable of Tyler's level of confession. I think it's especially true of a community that prides itself on toughness and intimidation that Tyler is the most radical thing to come out of it in a long time, and for that alone it's an excellent album. But I'm not going to put most of those tracks in a playlist. Yonkers and Sandwitches are instant fucking classics, though, and evidence that OFWGKTA will churn out some bangers as time goes on, but Tyler's never going to be Kanye or Jay Z or something.
