The butter wouldn't melt, so I put it in the pie... ...yeah, it's possible that Geno and I have different definitions of 'epic'.

That's funny.Gray Matter is an insanely epic album opener to me. I remember the first time hearing it my ears almost fell off. Packed with kinky hooks around every corner, great energy, and so fun to yell "There's something inside your head!" every time. Plus a vibes solo, I'ma total sucker for vibes.

"Grey Matter" was mind-blowing in a live setting. Elfman hauled this enormous marimba that he brought home from Africa around on tour with him; it looked like all of the tone chambers underneath were made out of old bird's nests, like the ones the swallows build in Capistrano. It was a marimba duet, with another member of the band keeping rhythm while Elfman put him to shame. The polyrhythmic countermelodies of Boingo's music is just the best thing about it. God, I would just kill for just ONE Boingo reunion show. JUST ONE.
