I don't understand where it came from or why, but Bogus Journey is really good. It is interesting that it has been all Panda so far and the stark difference in tone and mood than Centipede HZ.

For fucking realsies. Second half of 2012 is out of control.

Burrito, I gotta know. Where the fuck did you find this 'other' 'version' of Centipede Hz? You're right, it's obviously them, but where did it come from? Why does it exist at all? I can't find any acknowledgement of its existence fucking anywhere aside from the leak of the fake 'Applesauce' that I found earlier this week. People everywhere are bitching about fake leaks, but most of those point to the Alvin Band and not one of them seems to indicate that they were hearing what actually sounded like an Animal Collective album.

My guess is that they cranked these songs out and recorded them in a day or two and passed it around to prevent a leak of the actual album... but why?? It's, like, still really good. I'll admit that I'd have been a little, um, surprised if this had been the actual Centipede Hz, but that's not to say that it's not good.

I'm like 3/4 of the way through it at the moment; so far all of these songs are sung by Panda Bear, if I'm not mistaken. Is it even remotely conceivable that that is just a really good impersonation of Panda Bear? The only reason I say that is that A.) Avey's voice would be a LOT harder to fake, so even trying would be ridiculous and B.) the record being released on 9/4 features Avey singing lead on all tracks but two. Which I thought was interesting from the very first time I heard it, but there it is.

I seriously want to know what the fuck is going on with this thing.

Towards the end of the record and I'm becoming kind of skeptical. Sometimes it sounds a lot like Panda and sometimes it doesn't. And not a single trace of Avey. They got those Animal Collective harmonies going on, but y'know what when Avey and Panda harmonize it is almost always Avey singing lead and Panda harmonizing with him, not the other way around.

I concur. Sometimes it sounds like him but sometimes not and the vibe is off (I understand if that doesn't make sense). I don't know what to think.

Panda Bear's voice is a bit whinier and not as smooth as the voice in this album. It's an absolutely stellar impersonation, but I really don't think that his him, nor is this Animal Collective. Nonetheless, it's got some amazing chunes on it and I would really love to find out who the fuck it is. Between them and Alvin Band, I'd say we were gifted a couple of absolutely killer fake leaks.

He kind of sounds like Chris Barnes at times. Not saying it is, but I sure as hell have never gotten that impression from Panda Bear's vocals before.

EDIT: Haha whups. I mean Kevin Barnes. Definitely not Chris Barnes the death metal vocalist.

That was my impression of the Alvin Band record. Except by the halfway point, that shit was blatantly trying to mimic post-Hissing Fauna oM.
