I could see Cage The Elephant playing this year... Maybe on the Foo Dr. Garbanzohter night as a sub.

Cage the elephant may unfortunately be there but they will not be even close to subheadlining that is just silly

I'm actually completely with you except all of the ones I listed are less than 1/3 the cost of pearl jam, radiohead, or soundgarden which is why I listed them. There is no indication that Phoenix or Sigur Ros are touring but I just listed them more as a way of showing what level of artists I expect to headline.
I honestly have no idea what Kanye costs these days. During the Glow in the Dark tour I saw him in a half full rose garden which would put him in a similar value as the arcade fire (although kanye had Rihanna, NERD, and Lupe Fiasco as openers). The 2 years since that show just confuses the hell out of me when trying to Dr. Garbanzoure out his price range. If he announces a big tour I think he'd be in the same price range but since he hasn't toured in 2 years I think he probably costs an obscene amount just because of the hype/reclusiveness. Anyway, I'm not expecting to see him there but if he is then also expect to see him as a subheadliner at coachella beforehand

Anyway, I'd guess FF will be the biggest name headliner at Sasquatch barring a miracle. |
|
You're completely right about the popularity difference but that's not how concerts work. I would guess that Kanye costs more overall but I think it'd be closer than you think. Arcade Fire fans go to their concerts, Kanye fans don't show up nearly as much. As I said above, last time Kanye came through portland it was with strong support and still only sold about half the rose garden. That tour was heavily hyped visually and held before his pissed off half of the country. Even with the reception that his new album got the bad blood is still pretty strong and I doubt his draw is much stronger than it was on that tour

The fact is that friday is not full day but sasquatch has raised the price as if it were, Last year, the had smaller headliners( my guess was to save money for this year)
2008 you had the cure, Rem, FLAMING FUCKING LIPS Ufo,
You don't think they could do equally well this year,
There was such a dramatic raise in prices that, it lead me to believe that there is one band bigger than the Foo's. I think they could spend a million dollars for a band if they wanted.
And you think it would take a million dollars to get sound garden that is ridiculous, reunion or not,
Most likely your looking at a smaller monday act, like pheonix( who by the way are doing some festivals in February)
And 2 other solid headliners.
Arcade fire is not out of the question because they still play arenas, they are nor u2.
That leads to me to believe there is one more big headliner, like a pearl jam

Tickets last year were $170, I believe, without camping. Camping was $100. This year they're, what, $285? So if I'm right about those prices, then there's been a $15 increase.
And Friday might not start at noon, but it sounds like it'll start at 3, right? Or was it 5? In either case, it will be more than half of a day, assuming all stages will be open.

Was it not 100 per vehicle, which if you average 4, in a vehicle, it would be $25 per ticket price, 285-25-170=95 dollars more. Than last year, keep in mind that alot of people stay at wild rose and hotels still have to pay that extra money.
I think gunther was mentioning it was starting at 3, we estimated on another thread that it would approx 17 bands, gunther thinks there are going to be more, i think you will see less, similar to the 2006 show which were eight bands, I can see about 12 bands.

If it's anything like 2006, Foo=NIN. NIN and Beck were/are about the same draw and Ben Harper was/is(as A.Fire is) a cheaper headliner. I think it'll be 2 BH's(AFire;the Decemberists) and a Beck(Wilco;Coldplay) to come.

Ben Harper = Arcade Fire = Decemberists, and Beck = Coldplay?
I don't know why I've spent even part of my morning arguing with you, you are absolutely clueless.

I like how this looks! If this were true I'd definitely be buying four day passes right now. However, Modest Mouse and Death Cab seem like the most realistic contenders on this list. I hate to sound biased, but I don't think they'd be booking anyone who is bigger than the Foos for expense reasons. Kanye would cost just as much, if not, more than Pearl Jam because right now he is hip hop's center of attention. Soundgarden and Radiohead would probably be equally expensive for the reunion hype. Unless Sasquatch has the same amount as lolapalooza, it ain't happenin'. I think its safe to assume around the Foo Dr. Garbanzohter range... with the exception of Neil Young.. If he can play a winery and comcast arena with Death Cab supporting. He can do sasquatch. |
|
Yeah, Neil Young would be a cheap headliner, you can fist your ass while Horned Gramma holds your other hand.

I think biff does vanity searches for his name on this board. Whenever someone mentions him he logs in, makes a comment about fisting or something, and then is gone again as quickly as he came.
Say, biff, was you at Primus on New Years? I ask because I was hoping you were the guy that I straight fucking knocked to the ground.

Hahaha,I needed a laugh,
And i don't know if you heard but Coldplay is one of the biggest bands in the world and probably a little bit bigger draw than wilco.
Thanks gunther for correcting my math, it should be 90 Dollars.

everyone needs to keep in mind that the foos cost close to the same as all three headliners combined last year. They are a huge act and will be the biggest on the lineup.
I'm not sure exactly what Soundgarden costs but the 1 million number was thrown around for awhile and considering 1. they were one of the biggest lolla headliners and 2. they haven't played a major seattle show they certainly aren't going to be cheap
