it sounds a lot like you're saying he shouldn't be there because of 1 performance:

And I think I've justified in other posts that isn't the case. My explanations are fair.

I am a tentative fan of his, but if I were responsible for arranging the line-up at a music festival, I'd be wary about booking him. That's all I was and am saying.

If here's there, I'll see him. I won't cry if he isn't booked. I was merely trying to say he isn't completely the most trust-worthy act out there.

That's fine, I'm just sick of this absurdly overblown rhetoric criticizing Kayne. Obviously it's the natural reaction to the overblown rhetoric he uses himself but its still annoying. Yes he's a diva but his music is amazing and his performances are crazy (bonnaroo excepted). It's disappointing to see so many people dismiss his music solely because of his personal eccentricities.

regardless, I'd rather have a controversial headliner than ben harper

I agree with you completely. He certainly would be an interesting act to see, but sometimes I don't have the patience for his diva act. I don't think I am the only person who thinks this.

and yes, I'd rather get pumped to him than get heavy eyed with Harper.

I guess all I'm trying to say is that as far as I know bonnaroo is the only time his diva act affected his performance and I've seen him 3 times without any serious issues. His public persona and his performance persona don't seem to clash. Worst case scenario you get a five minute rant about some shit

He was a late add at Coachella 2006 when I went, and his equipment didn't make it so it was just him and his DJ, and it was still a fucking blast. He cares about his performance a lot, because he's an insecure fuck who wants everyone to like him, and Bonnaroo was an anomaly, imo.

I was having a similar conversation with a friend last weekend about Kanye. This friend started going off about how much Kanye sucks because he is an asshole, etc. I said, "I don't hang out with Kanye, I'm guessing you don't hang out with him either, so why does it matter if he is an asshole?"

Fuckin' exactly. Some people can't separate the art from the artist, but I've never had trouble with that. I like to play fantasy football with those people. "I'm not drafting Michael Vick, he kills dogs!"

... and only completes 55% of his passes and has a career 80.1 passer rating and has never thrown for more than 20 touchdowns in any season except this year. and is actually a pretty mediocre quarterback. - apart from this season (a free agent year for him)

Still one of the best fantasy football qbs. Anyway, just an example.

dude. if Kanye was slated to headline Sasquatch with a 10 pm slot - but didn't walk on stage until 1:45 am and not bother to address the crowd or offer any apologies for his tardiness, and then only played for 45 minutes... would you not be pissed? would you not say - fuck him?
