This was my first Sasquatch
Friday: Arrived late at night to be pleasently suprised by a fast moving well organized line flowing into the camp site. -Unpleasenlty suprised at how hard setting up a tent in the dark is and that we managed to remember confetti cannons, but not flashlights. Happy we remembered the confetti canons! -Concerned by the amount of "neon band" hipster glasses, were they giving them out at the front gate? "Would you like to look like an Idiot sir?", "Why sure! you wouldn't happen to have a straight brimmed hat aswell?", "No, but you will be sure to find thousands inside". -Faith restored in meeting some cool Sasquatchers, jams session and all out dance party ensue -It's 4am, still dancing, very fucked, and god damn if this DJ doesn't rule the fucking- oh sorry that's just your iPod dock, well it's very cool aswell -Time to sleep to the soothing slap back of port-a-potty, or more so Honey Bucket doors, lotta people peeing at 6am.
Saturday: Holy shit who put this crazy gorge here! -Still impressed by the Gorge -Wow, is all - WOW (slightly concerned I'm still messed) -Nope I'm fine, still WOW though. This is going to be the best ever!!!!!!!!!! -I'm in line, I hate this festival. -I'm inside!!!!! The gorge is even bigger up close, I love this festival!!!!!! -Oh yeah bands!!!! -Mumford and Sons are very one dimensional, but luckly I'm in the mood to gradually feel ponderouse, sad - then realize "hey it'a not all that bad", then "Why was I so down on myself", to "I feel like picking things up little", "Yeah, I feel really good - lets sing a chorus!" and finally lets epically jig this shit up. 9 times in a row! -Fool's Gold are very fun -Portugal, The Man, yay the first band I came here to see. As usual they don't dissapoint. -OK GO suck but make it easy to get to the gate for the National -Also what the fuck is up with this mainstage, absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!!! -The National have gotten loads better and are fucking awesome! So are Matt's pale blue eyes. -New stuff sounds great, Terrible Love has amazing live energy for a song I felt was more of a "headphone" track. -It's Broken Social Scene!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh how I love these guys, especially kevin Drew:) -Pheonomenal and satisfying as always. World Sick is almost too much to handle. Texaco Bithches - ecellent. Wanted to hear the new stuff live, wish granted. -Food time! -Puke time! -Beer time! -ATM time first i guess, now Beer Time! -Whoa there is a lot of people watching Vampire Weekend, getting back to my friends at the gate will not be easy. -Back with my friends! Managed to make 36 life long enemies along the way! -Dancing like crazy to Vampire Weekend, but I hate Vampire Weekend? Tonight I like them, and actually give seriouse props to how tight they are and that Ezra something is a really good frontman. -Now the day, just as a Mumford and Sons song, has gradually reached it's peak - MY Morning Jacket!!!!!!! -Jim James has turned into a seriouse ax man since the last tour, happy they trimmed some the songs fron Evil Urges (Great album, not always great live). -I now love clueless hipsters, as they have left and we are front centre for the rest of the show. -Smokin' from Shooting into Run Thru is a new one and a good one. -Out of the years and and countless MMJ shows, this is by far the best. James' vocals are on point the entire set and the band is now bigger than the gorge! -When did it get so fucking cold????? -I did not pack for this, I'm dancing wrapped in my sleeping bag -Fuck the sleeping bag! I'm dancing!!!! -Okay I am very cold, bed time.
Not that anyone really care, but I will finish later.

We camped right between a group of Mormons, a couple Canadians, one lone Baltimorean and a group of underage kids with a beer bong. Somehow this combination was absolutely perfect. Great friends made on all sides.
First thing through the gate on Saturday, a beautiful girl with enormous breasts in a bikini top ran up from behind me, grabbed my arm, and started chewing on my tattoo (yes, you read that right). Her friend explained to me that she is a biter. This set the tone perfectly for the BEST SASQUATCH EVER.
We all know the bands sounded kickass, the weather was fucking phenomenal, the drugs were excellent, the crowd and the vibe were better than ANY previous year, and that -- sure enough -- someone's tent flew up and away before the festival even started.
Next year is the TENTH annual Sasquatch and it is going to be FUCKING HUGE. I will see every single one of you fuckers there.

SUNDAY. : While the food was very gross, those Breakfast bowls were very good! Cheap and one filled up five of us! Yum, ladled cheese (possible Ween song). -Also, the gorge is still unbelievebly beautiful! Can't wait to see Caribou in this setting. -What the fuck is up with these lines. I guess I'm not going to see Caribou. -Instead I get to hear "Happy Birthday" five times over to, get this, a grown man wearing Neon Glasses, a mustache and a straight brimmed hat (triple threat for the worst ever) -I actually now hate Neon mustache hat guy, as he is conducting the crowd in singing Happy Birthday once again, to himself I might add -I also might add that Neon mustache hat guy is that type of person who is constantly talking about his mustache, eg. "this line isn't moving because my mustache doesn't want it to.", disgrace. -Yaaayy we're in, all Neon mustache hat guy animosity is gone and forgiven, I'm sure he means well. -So we plan to enjoy the mainstage today, lots of drinking, smoking, dancing, talking about shows, smoking, dancing, drinking, dancing, finding friends, dancing, drinking, and smoking. I can not wait. -Midlake heh, last time I heard Midlake they sounded kinda like the Smiths. They now look like Jethro Tull and sound jammy, which is cool too. As our first band of the day I totally dig Midlake, rock on! -What the fuck! The very same Neon mustache hat guy has seemingly gotten impossibly trashed in mere seconds and is yelling at girls to take their top off. This guy sucks, and I hope he is mauled by the stray dogs in the scary camp sites. -The Long Winters have lost the plot, even a Dead cover can't fix this. Especially when you pick one of the worst Dead songs. But before I get pegged as too much of a Negative Nancy - I was blown away by the calliber of live performances from all the new/newer bands. It was really sureal to be impressed by almost every band (Kid Cudi isn't a band) I saw or partly saw. Really, like five years ago, most new bands were best heard on record only, now they all seemed to have great stage presence and jam alot aswell. -They Might Be Giants, alright! They are fantastic and get me really excited for Ween -Still trying to Dr. Garbanzoure out if I just saw a puppet show or not -I did cool, the Avatars of They, very awesome. -Also that accoustic guitar at the start of Istanbul sounded like a jet taking off -Somehow there are twice as many people at Kid Cudi than MMJ! We're up and dancing, but let's not kid ourselves here - this is terrible. That could have been anybody with an Anthrax t-shirt yelling in a mic, very bad Hip-Hop representation on the mainstage -At some point I saw some Local Natives, uh-oh I swore to myself things wouldn't get this hazy! I do know they sounded like they were singing in mics stationed at all four corners of Sasquatch - very good. -Caught all of Sun Hands, don't think the song had as many dancing parts as my feet did, again I am very impressed. -Back to Kid Cudi, by the way - did it not remind anyone else of a scene from a Mad Max movie when we were all dancing on the midway ledge. No barrier (which was more awesome than Kid Cudi), shirtless bros, costumed idiots, and what seemed to be an apocolyptic wasteland spreading for miles ahead of us, all leading to the final sacrificial hour (I vote for Neon mustache hat guy or Kid Cudi). Cool stuff. -So up next is Tegan and Sara, what a suprising treat of tight perfect complex vocal harmonies! For me it was the surprise of the festival. (Except of course for the alarming number of guys who not in the presence of Nickleback, asked/shouted at us and other women to "Show us your tits". Pretty sad stuff guys, only thing sadder were those poor few who complied to the "request", though I did see some nice tits. -Tegan and Sara are officially fucking awesome live! I now accept that I know absolutely nothing. -LCD Soundsytem are too much fun! Everybody is dancing and I feel like I'm in Mad Max once again, I'm Master Blasting the fuck out of Pow Pow Pow! -Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, yeh-yeh, yeah, yeah, yeaaahh! -All of My Friends, with all of my friends! This going in my scrapbook, 4real. -So I was skeptical about Pavement due to seeing them back in the day (and loving it!), being a huge fan - kinda didn't want a reunion gig to tarnish all my fond memories. Instead, those memories suck compared to the set I just saw. -Wow is all, Malkmus kills - is all. Holy fucking shit that was great! I could not be any happier, wait Massive Attack is playing next! -I am still trying to process what exactly I saw/heard at Massive Attack. One of the most indescribable musical experiences ever! -Saw them in 2004, they had a whole lotta MC's rotating throughout the show and very minimal light stuff -I believe I saw them in 2010 and they came dangerously close to locking me in my own skull. Scary, Beautiful, dazzeling, loud, fucking loud, incredble, intense, stunning and for some reason Alien all come to mind. -All I can think about is Massive Attack, somehow I am back in a chair in my campsite, when did I walk here?????? -Is Massive Attack God? Did I just see God???? Holy shit I just saw God!! I am nowhere near religiouse, but I totally just saw God. He's tall, old, got a beard and knew all the lyrics to Angel. -Well I am going to sit here and simply contimplate - holy shit is that a giant disco bus!!!!! I am going to go and dance in the disco bus!!! -Sasquatch rules and is God approved!

one would think that they'll try to go all out for the 10th anniversary next year, but i'm stumped as to how they could possibly top this year. loading the lineup with bands that make you want to dance is definitely the winning formula for this festival. i think the only way they could have improved on this year's lineup would have been having LCD open for Massive Attack and booking Phoenix for the previous slot. if they top this year's festival in 2011, i think a lot of people will leave the festival headless after their minds had been blown.

MONDAY: Confetti Canon Dr. Garbanzoht!!! Woah, those things are no joke! Confetti Canon shoot in the direction of zero people/car windows/and or general obstacles that have either feelings or cost money!!!!! Whooooo. -No time for breakfast bowls, on the Molly/whatever's good hunt! -Big time score times a million! If this was a sport, we would have won and set records. -Lines, the last day of lines! -Only real plan is to see The Drive-By Truckers and Ween today. -Waiting in line to see DBT's in the pit, there are loads of people behind us, average age of 15, lots of florecents, lots of idiot glasses - HANG UP one sec... -So the whole weekend we had a little (kinda cruel) game called Ageless Sexless Alien, basically the mission was to point out a kid who looked both ageless and sexless and was most probably a foriegn life form trying It's best to fit in at a festival with only rudementry fashion/human gender knowledge. -Back to the DBT pit line, so the entire line behind us was made up of Ageless Sexless Aliens and not looking like the typical DBT crowd. -We realize Passion Pit is up after DBT's, the concentration of Ageless Sexless' makes sense and also sucks! -All the while this band called the Temper Trap is giving the crowd a killer set. Once again I am impressed by a band I'd never heard of, playing music I don't really like. Cool -We can see Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley standing side stage, we are dorks and immensly high! -I have so much love for the Drive-by Truckers, all is good. We are close, there is room to dance, we are singing, I have a million pictures, and the new songs are so great live with the new guitarist doing brain twisting slide guitar soundscapes the entire set!!!!! -Marry Me! -So 18 Wheels of Love starts and we are expecting the Chester and Patterson's mother get married in Dollywood, Chester gets terminal cancer, Chester beats cancer and walks his daughter down the aisle story. Which always gives me goosepoops, but Chester died on Tuesday. Kind of a bittersweet ending to the set. -Back to our Mad Max ledge vantage points for Passion Pit, hold up... We met the Drive-By Truckers!!! Alright. There was next to no one at their autograph session, cools guys and girl, and I now have an amazing picture! -Passion Pit can't sing, but we are having a blast and dancing like crazy. -I seriousely have zero idea where I was for She and Him, strangely I have around 10 pictures of them that are of extremly low quality. -Band of Horses are steady and I am enjoying the chill before Ween -Band of Horses are done, yay Ween!!!!! -What the fucky??? Totally forgot about MGMT. This has totally thrown off our substance menu, but at least MGMT will be infinitely better. -The Kid Cudi effect is in full effect for MGMT!!!!! -Now Ween!!!!!!!!!!! -I could go on for far too long about the joy I experienced at Ween. The sheer size of the venue and light show was amazing and about time for them! -Uh-oh, looks like a whole lotta dead Weeners on the lawn, that is gonna be a long walk to the camp site. Personally I could walk to Seattle right now. -Final dance party back at the camp -All in all Sasquatch totally won me over! I never thought anything could beat Bonnaroo, but it stacked up pretty nicely. Can't really compare them I suspose, but I did have as much fun here as I do usually there. So hats off, and potentially I will see all you Ageless Sexless Aliens next year!
Thanks for the time y'all.

Man, Sunday's description basically outlined every thought I had that day. With a few disagreements (I actually hate Long Winters on record but found I loved them live.) I also find it very ironic that the tit-showing requests happened in, of all places, the Tegan and Sara set. Find it even more ironic that some obliged.
Also, Kid Cudi was the only set I hated (or had negative feelings about in general) the entire weekend. Being crushed against the fence for the entire set didn't help.

Just curious if all of this was accounted for or journaled at the time of the festival or shortly after, or was it written stream-of-thought style before posting?
