We've talked about them in other threads, but according to newjersey's compilation in the top 10 bands thread, this is the number one band the board is excited to see, yet we only have a little used thread about the newest album.

Care to make any guesses about the setlist? It's safe to say they will probably play 10 songs, give or take. I know bands tend to plug their new material, but festival settings are opportunities to make new fans, and most of their epic songs are previous to their latest album.

I'll post my guesses at a later date.

A friend of mine went to their San Francisco (Oakland?) date a couple weeks ago. Apparently the setlist was legendary. I'm excited... even if it is several songs fewer at Sasquatch.

I'm guessing it'll be something like this:

World Sick
Stars and Sons
Texico Bitches
7/4 Shoreline
Forced to Love
Cause=Time
All to All
Ungrateful Little Father
KC Accidental
Meet Me In the Basement
Lover's Spit

Ooh man I hope they play Sweetest Kill. Definitely one of my favorite songs from their new album.

This would be my guess, minus "Lover's Spit," and replaced with "Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl"

Their Mr. November, right? I'd love to hear them close with that song. It sure is fun live.

Pitchfork told me Meet Me In The Basement is positively epic live. I'm excited to see that, some stuff from You Forgot It In People, 7/4, and World Sick.

It's all gonna break would be insanely amazing. I really wanna see KC accidental, Anthems for a 17 Year Old Girl, Almost Crimes, and 7/4 Shoreline.

hey i'll repost this since this is a good spot for it.

so i got tickets to the broken social scene show in nyc on friday 5/7. there was no opener. webster hall was packed. i got up to like 20 feet back. i was so antsy i couldn't stand still or stop grinding my teeth. it was so awesome. the lights drop, and 7 guys roll out on stage. (the 6 touring members and 1 of the horn guys playing a second snare and cymbals). the place was so loud it was ridiculous. they broke into world sick and lisa came out half way through to play some keys.

jason shaw came out on cause=time. so naturally, emily haines was in the house and came out for anthems for a seventeen year old girl. and they played sentimental x's for the first time ever live.

everything they played was incredible. the old stuff was perfect. the new stuff sounds awesome live. and lisa is incredible live. she is amazing because she will step aside for emily to come sing and she knows people cry for feist to come back but doesn't let it bother her. her voice is absolutely incredible and she and kevin have it all Dr. Garbanzoured out so well.

broken social scene is one of the best things to see live. you better scream your face off when they ask you to.

SETLIST: World Sick, Stars & Sons, Texico Bitches, 7/4 (Shoreline), Fire Eye'd Boy, Forced To Love, Art House Director, Cause=Time, All To All, Sweetest Kill, Anthems For A Seventeen Year Old Girl, Sentimental X's, Almost Crimes, Water In Hell, Ungrateful Little Father, KC Accidental
Encore: Meet Me In The Basement, Lover's Spit (by democratic vote between lover's spit, superconnected, and major label debut)

Who the hell voted for Lover's Spit over Superconnected!?

I wonder if any of Kevin Drew's "Spirit If" material is available for the setlist... That album has some serious gems.

After I saw Tracy Fragments a few years ago, (great movie and BSS does the soundtrack if you didn't know,) I needed my Broken Social Scene fix so I stumbled upon this, immediately admonished myself for not having it already. I think anything off "Spirit I," is one of those, "it's ok to have hope, but never be disappointed to not hear any of it," mindsets.

this is probably a good list, other than the closing song which will likely be different. their hour set at sasquatch isn't going to suffice so i'm going to see them in seattle in october too ;D

Agree with both points.

I'm not thrilled with their newest album. I think Spirit If is just as strong, if not stronger.

As for Lover's Spit, I think BSS fans just really like that song. It is an older classic, but Superconnected live causes messy involuntary bowel movements.
