 Conflict Decisions Help Thread
« Thread Started on May 10, 2010, 11:29am »

Soooo lineup is here and I am happy to say that there are fewer soul-crushing conflicts than I had expected. That being said there are still some tough decisions that I could really use some helpful opinions on. Obviously you know nothing about my musical taste so you won't be able to reccomend an act to me personally but if anyone has seen any of these performers perform and knows who is great/boring/mindbending/obnoxious live your feedback would be a great help in making these decisions.

SATURDAY
------------

The National vs. Hold Steady vs. Why?
Don't really know any of these bands too well but heard they are all terrific live. I will probably end up walking around and seeing a couple songs from each, but would like to know who you think I should devote most of my time to.

OK Go vs. Patrick Watson vs. Patton Oswalt
Probably the biggest FML for me. Not so much because of OK Go even though I did want to see them and would imagine them having a very fun set, but because of the Watson/Oswalt aka Oswaltson conflict. Just recently got into Patrick Watson and he was tops on my must-see at Sasquatch list, but Patton is one of my favourite comedians and I feel like I'd be a fool to miss him. How amazing is PAtrick Watson live?

SUNDAY
---------

Massive Attack vs. Public Enemy
Worth missing the first half hour of Massive Attack for Public Enemy? Actually nevermind. Stupid question. I can obviously just decide while I'm at Public Enemy.

Pavement vs. Dirty Projectors
Only mildly familiar with both. Who will put on a better show? I guess I'll have more oppertunities to see DP in the future so Pavement is probably the way to go, right?

MONDAY
----------

Dr. Dog vs. Craig Robinson
Are Dr. Dog's shows memorable? Pretty big fan, but find with their style of music the live show could either be great energetic fun or just kind of boring. Anyone seen Craig Robinson stand-up? Funny?

DBT's vs. Bobcat Goldthwait
Probably going to do Bobcat on this one. Was excited about the DBT's but Bobcat is sort of a legend, right? Well that might be taking it a bit far, but since discovering World's Greatest Dad (which if you haven't seen go watch it fucking now) I'm ecstatic about seeing him live.

So what do you think? Dumb, pointless thread or does anyone have anything helpful to say?

Patrick Watson is really amazing live. If you like his albums this is defiantly a must see.

I've seen the national and hold steady a bunch of times. Both are good. If you're looking to chill - the national's your band. If you looking to jump up an down, rock out and have the best time of your life - the hold steady's your band!

I plan on catching some of the Miike Snow show and The Hold Steady after Broken Social Scene.

I'm not sure what this guy is talking about, I wouldn't call the national chill. They're more epic and slow burning. I'd see the national for sure but the hold steady are still great

Take the discussion to the link posted in the first reply. You don't have to read all 15 pages to ask a question, or continue this discussion.
