I'm seriously thinking about starting a separate thread for all of the Bonnaroo superfans to hang out and jerk each other off.
or you could just start one for yourself; and complain about the multitude of things that irritate you. that way you'd always have a receptive audience.
Worst Sasquatch lineup ever. I'm excited to see MMJ, She and Him, Public Enemy, New Pornographers and Broken Social Scene. I'm not interested in a single band playing on Saturday and historically, that has always been my favorite day at sasquatch. Get the Red Hot Chili Peppers (hell they headlined the always terrible endfest a couple years ago, so don't pretend that is impossible). Good god, it took me days to get over how bad the lineup is. A large group of us had planned on going this year and now everybody bailed after this travesty.
Method, I do not have any sympathy for you and your musical ignorance. If you have been to Sasquatch Festivals before, then I am not sure how you can find this schedule disappointing. Given the bands you claim to be excited to see, there are plenty of other bands that could fill your schedule.
- If you like She & Him, do yourself a favour and listen to Edward Sharpe, The XX, Camera Obscura and Tallest Man on Earth. - If you like MMJ, do yourself a favour and listen to Drive By Truckers and Dr. Dog. - If you like BSS, do yourself a favour and listen to The Temper Trap and The Hold Steady - If you like New Pornographers, do yourself a favour and listen to Minus the Bear and Ok Go.
Believe me there is plenty to see out there that isn't playing on your local radio station. I find it difficult to believe that you have heard of these bands and yet don't want to see any more than 5 of them. So I chalk it up to your lack of knowledge, which hopefully for you can be remedied before Memorial Day. If you don't go, I promise in 3 to 4 years you will regret missing this festival, because then they will be playing these same bands on that same radio station.
Wow, calling me musically ignorant because I don't like the entirety of the lineup is rather presumptuous. I do know many of the bands that you claim I will like and I'm not into them. I do like camera obscura. I'm not on the "Tallest Man on Earth" train like everybody else after he opened for the Bon Iver tour a year or so ago. I"ll pretend like you didn't just recommend OK Go. You're naming all the early afternoon bands and I want those to be good too but if they don't close strong then the lineup is flawed. There are always good bands but this year is weaker than the previous four years that I attended (i didn't go last year) and that has nothing to do with ignorance. Tickets for three days to sasquatch are now 280 USD and that does not include camping, food or the twelve dollar shitty beers. Where is that money going? Certainly not to the temper trap and the xx. As far as the radio is concerned, you would be hard pressed to find the bands I named on the radio now besides KEXP and other non-profits, so what are you talking about? If they improve the lineup I'll be there for my fifth squatch but if not, my tickets will be competing with many others on craigslist.

I actually made Bonnaroo thread a little while ago, it's in the music forum.

methodacting, PUT UP OR SHUT THE FUCK UP. Get your tickets on Craiglist. The lineup will not improve, it's going to stay like this.
I understand the joy of trolling a forum, I do, but you seem legitimately disappointed about the lineup. So fucking what? We are all clearly excited; we all have passes -- you're not going to change any of our minds. Do you think Adam Snacks is going to visit this board? Adam Snacks doesn't know we exist; he doesn't give a shit about us. If he stumbled upon this board he would read your posts and then go back to BOOKING HIS FAVORITE BANDS and COUNTING STACKS OF MONEY.
Really, what the fuck are you even doing here? Aside from my general irritation with your Whiny Bitch Syndrome, NO ONE HERE GIVES A SHIT.
We can hook up a web cam for you to watch if you'd like?
No, the idea is that I don't have to read your "Oh Bonnaroo is SO MUCH BETTER" posts. Because I don't give a shit, and no one here is impressed, and none of the Sasquatch regulars are going to wistfully sigh, wishing they could whisk themselves across the country to hang out in the south for a few days listening to Dave fucking Matthews Band.
Star power means nothing if your live show is mediocre. I've always heard nothing but phenomenal things about MMJ and Massive Attack's live shows. Bonnaroo can keep their Jay-Z's, KoL's, and DMB. I don't imagine any of them doing anything other than playing their straight forward songs on stage.
While I certainly see your point, describing DMB as just playing their songs on a stage isn't quite right. They don't have an elaborate live show, which is fine, not everyone will and that by no means makes a bad live band. They do some long ass jam sessions on various songs though, probably to no one's great surprise. I've seen them before, and I've kind of moved past being a fan, but yeah.
This thread topic is a bummer anyway, let's head way off track and stay there.
I ignored Drive-By Truckers until about four days ago because I thought they were shitty "alt-country but not in a good way" boring "rockers." Turns out they are god damn great.
The point of the thread was to give everyone who hates the lineup, and will eventually leave this board, a place to vent, so they don't infest the other threads with their negativity. It didn't really work though.
As for Drive-By Truckers, I got into them last year, and am kicking myself for having missed their last NW tour (in fall of 2008 I believe). That Mr. Hood is a hell of a song writer.

Well, I can support that sentiment for sure.
And yeah, they came through with The Hold Steady. I regret not going... but here's my chance to make up for my giant error!
Have you listened to Public Enemy? That's not a sarcastic question; I'm just curious if you hate them for their music or because Flavor Flav is involved.
i have heard their music....not a fan. AT ALL. ahhhhhh welll. i soppose i should open my horizons a bit and just embrace the fact that public enemy will be there.
but stilll.......haha.

I agree that Adam Snacks probably doesn't get his feelings hurt by some of the comments on this board, but he would be foolish to not visit it. Between forums, blogs, and twitter, a concert promoter has never had such an amazing chance to get the pulse of the general public. I'm sure he is aware that the general consensus is that this is a very deep lineup with many artists putting out hyped albums this year, but that the headliners have to be taken on trust because they aren't the typical "names" at the top of the poster. As others have mentioned, I would be curious to know if the ticket sales are on par with past years at this point.

As mentioned in the Tickets thread...
tickets are selling WAY BETTER this year than last year.

Not to mention, this is what, 20-30 people, tops, who post on a regular basis? We might be a half-decent cross section of the "average Sasquatch attender", but really 20-30 people out of 22000 isn't exactly a significant sample, and certainly not what you should cater to, no matter how much we'd like them to
