They're even leaving America after Bonnaroo to head back to their home continent, I think, so it wouldn't be as if they're spending their whole summer here. Just April through June. |

Maybe Phoenix is hanging out in the Coppola vineyards during the summer, with a few scattered shows in between. Sounds like a fun summer to me.

And I would bet Local Natives is playing too. They're playing SXSW, Coachella, Bonaroo, and have a show in Portland on May 27th

Yeah, I've got good feelings about Nada Surf, Vampire Weekend, Local Natives, Girls, Soundgarden, MGMT, The National, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, YACHT, and Neko Case.

The National would work great right before Pavement. They're doing a few shows together, and ever since someone said how cool it would be if The National played "So Far Around The Bend" that night it's something I've been hoping for.
By the same logic, Broken Social Scene, who is also doing shows with Pavement, would make sense. |

I'd buy this as well. When bands are touring together, they do tend to get paired. They did it with REM, Modest Mouse and the National two years ago I believe. |
|
and NIN+JA last year, the Cure + 65daysofstatic the year before. very likely to see more pairs this year.

Thanks for that easily pastable link friend! But I was actually writing about the rumor that either My Morning Jacket, which is touring into May, or Monsters of Folk will be there. It seems the potential for the man thats in both of these bands, Jim James, to be in the gorge is quite high.

So I'll throw some newish suggestions on the pile (or at least ones we haven't talked about in the redone version of this thread)
Broken Bells - I don't think they have tour dates announced, and James Mercer has a bit of a NW connection via the Shins, their album comes out in March.
Temper Trap - someone brought them up, but misread their schedule (or it's changed). They'll be in Europe for a bit up til right before the weekend of Sasquatch. However they're set for Bonnaroo which means they'll be back stateside at some point anyway, and they seem to miss Seattle entirely on their incredibly meandering tour (which also seems to indicate they have no issue flying...Oregon to Massachusetts to Colorado in a week?) http://www.thetempertrap.net/Gigs/
Dan Black - this one is a little out of the blue, but I have an inkling that something is up with him based on some stuff I've read online. Not at all concrete.
Passion Pit - they are hugely popular here, apparently (I swear they sold out some show late last year didn't they?) and they have two dates in Oregon and one in Vancouver but skip Seattle entirely.
Civil Twilight - The End is pushing them kind of hard out of nowhere, which generally happens when they're having some sort of event with a band (Billy Boy on Poison/Great Northern around Endfest, 30 Seconds to Mars for Deck the Hall ball, etc.) and their current tour doesn't seem to be bringing them anywhere nearby. Again this one is kind of out of nowhere.
Lastly, Edward Sharpe - who I think has come up a few times actually, but he fits in well in terms of availability and the sort of band Sasquatch would cater to.

Sonic Youth would be amazing. I can't wait to see them at ATP NY.
I highly doubt Monsters of Folk will be there too.

Oh and one we all seem to really want - Arcade Fire. It's been brought up in this thread or headliners that their availability is now listed as August/September 2010. But back in October of 2009, it was TBA ( http://stereogum.com/archives/let_the_ar....gin_097331.html ) and in December it was new album, spring tour, with festivals ( http://www.billboard.com/news/arcade-fir....004050192.story ). We're not even into Spring yet, so I wonder if something's yet coming? I mean, the reason they may have a different message for their booking is because they are already booked as much as they want to be the first half of the year. And as far as "festivals" go, well Lolla isn't out yet, but they aren't on Bonnaroo or Coachella yet, and I imagine what they meant was earlier in the year, so probably not referring to Austin City Limits, Vegoose, or All Points West (although I wouldn't say those are out of the question, just that they weren't talking about playing them is all).
Fingers crossed!

Funny. I've got a better feeling about these bands though: Pavement, Neon Indian, Vetiver, Wale, Morning Teleportation, Miike Snow, Why?, Cymbals Eat Guitars.

It seems unlikely since he's performing in Seattle at the end of March, but with his Vetiver connection could we possibly see an appearance from Devendra Banhart. Always a good festival act.
