Not gonna lie, I cared a lot about being up close for the foo last year... but I had a sad history with the foo I had to purge.

I want to be inner pit for Metric. Should I duck out of Dum Dum Girls early? Is this a possibility or should I just plan on watching Childish Gambino?
What about side stage acts? For example, do I have to endure chune-yards to be up front for St. Vincent? If I catch Zola Jesus, how shitty will my spot be for Little Dragon?
The only two headliners I plan on watching are Beck and Jack White, and getting up front for either of those isn't going to be even attempted because of commitments at other stages (Mogwai and St Vincent, respectively. |

I should rephrase - the ONLY act that it will be really hard to get into the pit for is Pretty Lights. Honestly, it's never that hard.

This thread is beginning to go in circles.
It is not remotely challenging getting into the (inside) pit. Most acts, you'll need to be close to the entrance gate within 10 minutes of the band you want to see there... For the bigger acts you'll need to be there within 25 minutes of their set. As for the outer pit area --- in most cases, you can roll up on in there just as the band is beginning their set and you won't have a problem getting a good spot.
In my experience, you almost never need to camp out in the pit for ANY band. And as it has been mentioned, at great lengths, there really isn't a bad spot at all on the Sasquatch stage. Seriously. Whether that's the inner pit, the outer pit, the rock piles or the giant fucking hill - you'll be able to see the stage perfectly.

In summation, don't waste your day watching one act you don't want to see just so you can get a good spot in the pit for a band you do want to see. You'll be able to see that band perfectly fine regardless of the time you get there . I promise.

Totally. I was walking down the path as the Foo Dr. Garbanzohters were starting, still made it to the middle of the outer pit without pushing anyone and had more than enough room to do my white boy dance.

I'm not a fan of locking threads unless they're massively inappropriate. Nay.

I was wondering if someone was gonna remind me of that. Luckily it made me dodge the mistake of missing They Might Be Giants that was my original plan.
