Didnt realize at the time but that was probably one of the worse conflicts of the weekend. Saw the first 30 minutes of RyG, then it started raining so we went to leave but then people started slip and sliding down the hill (sometimes smashing into other people as they underestimated the force of gravity) and that was entertaining for 5 minutes, then went to get food and saw best coast, which was a lot of fun. They ran a bit long and we got back to the mainstage floor just in time for the decemberists, who were also fantastic, totally blew me away.

Still sad I missed !!!. I wanted to see them, but the way that afternoon worked out I didnt even really have a second so get over to bigfoot to check out a few songs.

OHhhh, and since I'm in the haters thread: What the fuck was up with all the late sets? I missed half of Das Racist because they were around 25 minutes late (WTF do they have to set up anyway? Its 3 rappers and a DJ). Then went to the Lips much to the annoyance of my Das Racist loving friend and they were 15 minutes late meaning we could have seen all of Das Racist (so I had to listen to "man we could still be at Das Racist right now" for 15 minutes). Roybn was a good 25 minutes late causing me to miss the last bit of her set for Sleigh Bells (I think). Aloe Blacc was about 10 minutes late and there were countless others that werent on time.

It could have just been me, but I dont remember nearly as many acts being nearly as late in the last 2 years.

With the exception of Massive Attack last year. Those fuckers were LATE. But it was the last set, so I wasnt really too choked about it, though I did leave Public Enemy early only to sit in the cold for 30 minutes.

Fuck the Decemberists. They didn't play a single fucking note off of their first two albums. As decent as The King is Dead was, after that set I have officially washed my hands of the Decemberists.

Fair enough. I really dont know them well enough to pick out which song comes from which album. They have always been one of those bands that I probably should listen to more, especially since I have seen them twice and liked them both times, but never really got around to getting into.

Still, I really enjoyed their set.

I tried to give them a shot at sasquatch, but I still do not get the Decemberists at all. My friends all love them and raved about their set...but yeah, not for me.

I left and enjoyed the shit out of Skrillex. Womp womp bitches.

I've been a Decemberists fan since the day their first album was released. One thing that I am never able to forgive a band for is when they forget about their old material -- and their original fans. Fancy Pants Meloy has gotten too big for his pirate-y britches.

Their Squatch set was nice for the fact that it was Jenny Conlee's final performance with them, and she really seemed to be giving it everything. Now that she's out of the band for the forseeable future, I believe Colin Meloy and Chris Funk are the only two original members left. I don't even regard them as the same band anymore.

The lightning storm between Decemberists and Wilco was so fucking rad... And yeah, that first major lightning bolt coincided with the climax of that dorky Mariner's Revenge Song and that was pretty sweet.

Agreed. I must admit, however, that I thoroughly enjoyed Mariachi el Bronx. They should have simply recreated that set on the mainstage.

Massive Attack was so late because they were waiting for Pavement to get off the stage (as was most of the crowd...) because they ended 45 minutes after they should have ended.

You may have a point, I dont think I saw the end of Pavement... I went elsewhere for another show. Possibly Public Enemy. I would have to see a schedule to be sure.

Regardless I'm not trying to blame 1 band for being late, just the overall organization of the festival. With that Massive Attack exception I cant think of a single lateness in the past 2 years that made me miss something else I wanted to see. This year I can think of at least 4 instances of this.

I agree and disagree with HG re: Decemberists, even though I didn't realize it at the time. Fucking blows we heard nothing off (at least) Castaways and Cutouts, but at the same time every song they played was fricken rad and Mariner's Revenge Song was awesome. I proudly screamed (like a dork) and danced my ass off during that finale.

And the lightning, fuck yeah.

But to keep this on topic: S CAREY WAS SO GOD DAMN BORING.

also, even though I lost my shit when they played it, I though Wolf Parade could have done a better job with "I'll Believe In Anything." That song deserves only the most epic of treatments.

And they ended their set a little early i think? They should've played "Kissing the Beehive" instead of "California Dreamer"
