Had a Dechutes Hop Henge this evening. It was a day away from the drink by date. Still quite tasty. Actually, very very quite very tasty.

I got some Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar. Since my mother is out of town and I am dogsitting during the rockets-red-glare and Sadie, the Jack Russell, panics I have to find something to amuse myself.

I'm going to make myself a Black & Brown (Hazelnut Brown + (my last >=|) Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout) and a Beer Mocha (Boatswain Chocolate Stout and Cappuccino Stout).

WILL REPORT BACK.

While I was earning a horrible hangover yesterday I did get to have some good beers at the Green Frog

North Fork - A lighter shade of pale
Black Raven - NW Imperial Red

And then it turned into Modelo night...then vodka...then Modelo again...

An apparent production issue at the Lagunitas brewery (something, I was told, to do with some glass that ended up in a batch of IPA) has resulted in a massive recall and left Southeast Portland and most likely parts beyond completely devoid of my sweet, sweet nectar.

I'm not happy.

http://newsfeed.time.com/2012/07/09/and-the-best-beer-in-america-is/

Kind of a shitty list. I like these beers, but I can think of a lot of beers I like more.

ABA’s 2012 Top 10 Best Beers in America:

Russian River Pliny the Elder
Bell’s Two Hearted Ale
Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Stone Arrogant Bastard Ale
Bell’s Hopslam
Sierra Nevada Celebration
Stone Ruination IPA
Sierra Nevada Torpedo
North Coast Old Rasputin

A few dudes on the Coachella board got pretty offended when I called Pliny the Elder one of the most overrated beers I've ever had. It's a decent IPA, sure, but that's where it ends for me. No way does it deserve the ridiculous cult following it's gained. People line up outside my local beer store for a chance to snag a couple every time they're released, and they have to be limited to two per person since they fly off the shelves so fast. wut?

That's ridiculous. It's seriously nothing special. Trust me: Californians do not have a grasp on the craft beer world. Every little brewery around here is bigger than all the breweries in Montana combined.

And I would put Blackfoot IPA up against Pliny the Elder any day.

Leave it to the Coachella board to get offended by an opinion on beer.

As a former Californian and current Montanan, I agree with this statement 90%. The 10% being the breweries and beer aficianados located along Highways 1 and 101 north of San Francisco.

I'll even spite that tattoo on my arm and admit that Arrogant Bastard has no right being that high on any beer list, either. Ruination, on the other hand, mmmmmmm!!!!
