Holy. Shit. Suspiria. By far one of the best scary movies I have seen in a very long time. Not sure how I'd not seen that one by now but daaaamn. The set designs were fucking brilliant. The lighting- trippy and spot on. The Score! So good. Apparently it was done by "Goblin" (Italian Progressive Rock, anyone?) and there's a hillarious music video in the special features of the DVD. If you haven't seen that shit already, dooo it.

The Master: I have no idea what I just watched.
The performances were phenomenal and some of the scenes were fantastic....but I have no idea what else to think of it.
I think there was a brilliant 90-minute movie in there somewhere.

This is really cool (from Rian Johnson):
Quote:I recorded a commentary track to be downloaded, put on an ipod and listened to in the theater as you’re watching Looper. This is an odd thing I tried with Bloom, and have gotten a few requests for it again, so here it is. It is totally different from the commentary track that will be on the Blu/DVD, a bit more technical and detailed. Needless to say, this is NOT to be listened to on a first viewing, or before you’ve seen the film. Also, please work it so that a glowing screening is never out of your pocket during the movie.
Listen to the introduction before heading to the theater, it has instructions. And lemme know how it works. |
|
I really hope more people start doing this. I'm a huge sucker for commentary and it's an awesome way for movie-types to get people to go out and see your movie again.

That is SWEET. I might go see Looper again tonight, and if so I'm totally doing this.

Frankenweenie FTW!!! Aww, I loved it. Old school Tim Burton, black and white stop motion, at it's finest. Tons of new characters (a hillarious Asian kid, a creepy girl whose obsessed with her cat and Edgar is even funnier than in the oringal). I laughed, I cried, I had a shit eating grin on my face pretty much the whole time. I was a huge fan of the short film and I worried this wouldn't live up to the orginal but it totally did. Also, Catherine O'Hara is my idol. I didn't see it in 3D but it still looked great.
They were giving away free posters (a black and white sketch- pretty cool) because it's opening night- I picked up an extra poster for the Abbott household, I'd be pretty shocked if you guys didn't enjoy it.

I appreciate it, but in all honesty I am completely and utterly done with Tim Burton. I turned Alice off after 25 minutes and I didn't even bother with Dark Shadows.
You know the dude is scraping the bottom of the barrel when he has to resort to re-making his own damn films. The original Frankenweenie was essentially perfect; that he would dig it up and try to re-animate it (fa fa fa) is offensive.

Alice in Wonderland was a steaming turd pile. The Willy Wonka bullshit was painful. I didn't bother with Dark Shadows either. I totally get it. But this really was great.

Sorry, that was rude. Deep down I kinda resent the things that meant the most to me in my teens. Star Wars, Tim Burton, of Montreal, Barenaked Ladies, Radiohead.
Nothing lasts forever (except the Residents).

CABIN IN THE WOODS! I laughed, I cried, I was on the edge of my seat. It was everything I wanted a random movie I've never heard of to be.

Every three months, I'm in the mood to watch a movie, but every time I bring up the available movies On Demand, I recognize zero titles. I have no recollection of you guys talking about this movie, and thought I would immediately be chastised for liking it.
I literally cried during the unicorn scene. Not bawling, but my eyes watered heavily. The last 20 minutes of that movie was gold.
Unbelievable performance by tiny tot Quvenzhané Wallis. I haaate child actors, I just never buy it. But this little girl was incredible. I don't understand how someone so young (proabably 7-8 while filming) was able to portray such deep, intense emotion. She absoultely deserves a nomination, you've gotta see this performance.
