What a fucking joke. One can only assume this has to do with Harper loving America so much.

It's all volunteer, and they get their lift tickets paid for. Methinks a bunch of Albertan cops are having some nice vacation days.

But they're armed, with (I'm assuming) guns. That's the part that seems really weird. So he sees a teenager smoking a joint, and the paranoid guy makes a break for it, is the cop really going to shoot at him?

Obviously not. It's for their own protection. On duty officers always have a sidearm.

Weed is the great ski slope menace. Do the RCMP officials ride horses down the mountain? Because that would be funny.

This I did not know. I just can't foresee any situation where a cop would need a gun on a ski hill. While I have no idea how gun holsters work, I would think there is some chance he could fall and lose it. He might be able to keep it under his clothing, but then that defeats the porpoise of having it for emergencies.

The holsters have belt that snaps in place around the gun.

I know that, but it looks to me like you could easily unsnap that with a good fall off your skis. I've taken some pretty big spills while snowboarding and things like googles, gloves and pretty much anything else that wasn't inside a zipped pocket have ended up sliding down the hill. I guess the cops wouldn't be flying down the hill, but it could still happen.
The thought of armed cops on a ski hill trying to stop the odd person from smoking a joint seems insane to me, so thankfully this isn't going on in BC (yet?).

So dumb. They've stopped like one person. I highly doubt the big deals are going down on the chairlift.

It's a ridiculous idea and a complete waste of taxpayer money. If the ski hills really want to stop kids from smoking in the gondola or on the hills they should be footing the bill and paying these guys as off-duty.

The police chief shut down the Knitting Factory in Spokane for 20 days, because some gang members were shooting each other outside after a private party that took place there. It wasn't even a music related event.

Actually, it sounds like they shut it down for good and the Knitting Factory has 20 days to appeal the decision. At least that's how the article read to me.
