Ha. Awesome. Peatrick is just debating the issue because I got upset last night about someone calling me "mulatto" so he thinks I pull the race card on everything.

Though Charleston doesn't completely escape all this. It's pretty damn accepting and cultured. (Which is why many of us Charleston residents call it "South Carolina's oasis"), but you get into the upstate where I'm originally from, and homophobia and racism are about as plentiful as it gets. |

I work for a company involved in the oil & gas industry. So TX, OK, AR, LA are four states I've been to for work quite often, and not just the urban areas.
West Texas is kind of different- their racism seems much more focused on latinos than blacks, probably due to their proximity to the Mexican border. I don't condone this, obviously, but it's there. |
| Oh definitely. as for OK and AR, I keep forgetting that they are technically the south, as I always associate them with the midwest. Louisiana I feel is on the better side of the southern acceptance spectrum. From my experience, the worst of it is the area of Tennessee/Alabama/Mississippi/Georgia/South Carolina.

I think Alabama and Mississippi are the absolute bottom of the barrel in terms of acceptance of just about ANYTHING that isn't the white, heterosexual, all-American archetype.

I've only been to AL once, and never to MS. Although I'm clearly white and look like I was raised in a trailer park, perhaps I should not plan any vacations there...

Yeah. Don't. There's nothing even remotely interesting about Mississippi anyway besides learning how to spell it's name when you're a little kid.

There is no winning or losing anything here. And since you brought up the situation that occurred last night, I found this somewhat interesting. IN NO WAY WHATSOEVER am I implying that Urban Dictionary has any kind of official word on anything, but it seems many people have many different takes on the word "mulatto."

Pretty sure that word is kinda archaic in the same way we don't call Native people Indians.

Haha, it's unfortunate too because the one time I went to Alabama, it was actually pretty beautiful.

Guys. Bacon lube? I do not want my vaginer to smell like bacon. To each their own, I guess.

Not to get into gory details, but as opposed to say a strawberry lollipop which I will gladly lick, etc., I never find myself licking a piece of bacon. If something tastes/smells like bacon, I just want to consume it. I'm sure I'm not alone in this, so knowing that, bacon lube sounds way too much like a recipe for disaster.
