my reactions: "uhhhhhhh", everyone seems to be in the middle of a bender, Stephen's loose lipped cig is the highlight of the video(crackin me up over here), not sure how well the naked chick in the bathtub theme that seems to emerging is working for them, this song/Amanda Palmer's voice instantly reminded me of Julee Cruise from Twin Peaks (or maybe last name Palmer just got me thinkin of Twin Peaks).

I know what you mean. I will always adore them but Wayne's ego is getting a little ridic and things have just kinda been off. I'm not ready to throw in the towel until I make it on stage, though.

The transition from post-punk to psychedelic fuzz was welcome. The transition from psychedelic fuzz to full on wall-of-sound was necessary. The transition from wall-of-sound to collaborative pranksters is depressing, boring and fucking stupid.

At the risk of sounding like a hipster, my favorite Lips album is Hit to Death in the Future Head. It's true, and fuck you.

Concerning Embryonic, I was very enthusiastic about it when it was released but now I fucking hate it. I see right through it. Wayne obviously thought that if he wrote a bunch of songs and then left them half-finished it would trick people into thinking they'd re-captured the sound of the Transmissions-era albums. And it did -- had me fooled for a good two months. But the songs themselves are absolute shit. The schtick is paper-thin at this point, and having to pay $500 for new material of even lower-quality because it's packaged inside of a rainbow-colored dildo or something proves it.

'Two Blobs Fucking' is the most boring, pretentious and uninspired garbage I have ever heard.

Ahh- the first album that Wayne took over vocals... pre-ego, low budget, crunchy jams. Dude, hipster or not, I love that album.

I couldn't agree more about the collaborations. There are a few I can get into but for the most part, snoooore. Jesus Christ that fucking Yoko Ono collaboration was sooo bad. "Do it!"- no, please don't.

For the record, I don't think it's 'hipster' (whatever the fuck that means) to claim Hit to Death as your favorite Lips album, but I am aware of the tendency people have to slap a person with the hipster tag because they claim to prefer pre-breakthrough albums.

Apparently Wayne and his wife of 25 years just seperated. A bunch of his fans in OKC report seeing him around town looking super depressed. Maybe this will be the inspiration he needs write something interesting again.
