I like driving too, but dude 37 hours is retarded. Take this from the guy that drove from Van to Coachella. That was 22 hours or so... We were a fucking wreck, and 3 of us shared the responsibility.

I drove alone to San Diego and back in September. 72 driving hours. I did 18 hours in one day twice. I'm a driving machine.

I won't do it if I'm alone, I'm only doing Roo if I can find friends.. but even then, I don't like other people driving my car, so I'll probably do all the driving. Maybe. Depends.

i like driving too... but 37 hours of it? not worth it. bonnaroo's a good time, but in no-circumstance is it worth driving 37 hours just to get there; and then when you do, and you party for your four days, and it's all over and done with, guess what?... you've got another 37 hours of driving to look forward to. It won't be that appealing and aesthetic driving experience, either. The two most interesting places you'll drive will be Minneapolis and St. Louis - the rest of your drive will be through farm lands. hundreds and hundreds of miles of farm land. If you really want to get to Tennessee, i suggest flying - it won't be considered cheating.

Total props.

You and your ride should stop by Pittsburgh to pick me up :)

I totally would pick you up.. but it's not really on the way.. lol at all.

Haha, if you're already driving 37 hours, what's another 12 to stop by Pittsburgh?! ;-)

Peatrick and Rust -- you guys crack me up!!! ;D

This driving thing. You guys don't get it. When you live in the WORLD'S most populated nothern city your perspective on what constitues as "long" drives is dramatically reshaped. To go to the nearest BIG place it's 12hr min. (Vancouver). Which believe it or not feels kinda short.

This reminds me when I debated driving to Sasquatch a few years ago. Then I ran the numbers and thought about it and was all like, "Wait. No."

Can i choose 'not'?
12 hours is like watching the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy and still have like another 90 minutes to go... seems almost unbearable.

I disagree with the statement that 12 hrs feels kinda short. Drove 13 to Pemberton with 3 other drivers and that was fine. Drove 13hrs back from Pemberton all on my own (i was trying to prove a point, i think) and it was hell. 14hrs to Sasquatch wasn't so bad. 14hrs back from Sasquatch seemed so much longer.

I couldn't even imagine driving 37hrs. I guess if one were to take the weeks before and after off and stop 2/3 times each way to get some shut-eye it would be pretty bearable.

I think I'd much rather just fly though. pack a small tent, sleeping bag, pillow in one bag, clothes in another, and take a carry on and you're good to go. Pick up a throwaway cooler and food/drink on the way.

It seems like a much better idea to spend the money on a rental car/flight/buying some necessities than driving 37hrs, putting your vehicle through a torture test, possibly having to pay for repairs along the way, and being fucking exhausted for 10 days straight.

But that's me.

and because I'm bored, I'm going to prove it with math.

the trip from Edmonton to Manchester, TN is approximately 3,500km. Assuming 500km/tank of gas (I'm using my car as an example here), that's 7 tanks of gas 1-way. $45/$50 for a tank of gas means $315 - $350 each way, or $630 - $700 round trip.

A round trip plane ticket from Edmonton to Nashville, TN on June 8th - 13th is $715, and only 6hours with a connection in Chicago.

You can rent an economy car at the Nashville airport for a 1week rental at a cost of between $168 and $235.

So for what you would save by not stopping at a hotel/stopping for food on the roadtrip, you can rent a car.

We're talking about less than $1000 to get you all the way to Bonnaroo while your car is safe and sound in the comfort of your garage. The deal is even better if you have a friend or two with you, because then there is more space to pack gear in suitcases, more people splitting the cost of the rental car, etc.

add in the cost of your ticket and all of your homework is done.
