Yeah and you never ever said that until you decided to participate in the Primus mosh pit on New Year's. Where a pit is appropriate.

And don't call me cranky pants. There's a difference between the pit area at the Gorge and the GA floor at the Showbox. Safety concerns should always come first, derp, but people getting rowdy -- even really rowdy -- in the pit at Sasquatch is perfectly harmless.

Now you're just being snippy. I was reminded of this by the Primus New Year's show, but I went to a hundred shows in high school and college, and I got thrown around in a hundred pits.

It's not cool to take swipes at my argument with information from personal conversations we've had, by the way.

I grew up in Slayer, Pantera, and Slipknot pits. Those are real pits in my opinion. They're very agressive yet everyone shows a lot of respect. There used to be a huge skinhead that would go to every Spokane metal show and regulate the circle pits. If anyone got out of hand he would put an end to it.

He kind of looked like Cool Ice actually.

I've been surprised on many occasion just how kind and courteous people in mosh pits can be. Everyone thrashing about, knocking into one another, inevitably someone smaller gets knocked down, and in many cases I've seen everyone stop what they're doing and help the person up. By this I mean some would reach an arm down to lift the person back to their feet, and others would tone down the trashing until this was completed. Unfortunately this is not always the case, and you really don't know if the circle pit that just opened up around you will be like it until it might already be too late. This happened at an end of the year mini-festival at my alma mater a number of years ago (to the New Pornographers of all bands) and my girlfriend got knocked down and the action only escalated from there. I got her to her feet and spent the following few minutes scouring the ground for pieces of her glasses as they had been knocked off her head and smashed. Not a fun activity when there are drunk rugby players smashing into each other all around you.

People should just dance to express their physical rapture during a set. I'm fine to deal with the poops, but it's a double win when the crowd is grooving with one another at a fantastic set.

You can bring food in clear plastic bags/containers so they can see it. There is NO re-entry into the venue once you have gone in.
