Ok well I am old and have an opinion and it is that just because I want to stand down in front does not automatically mean I should have to be pushed. I think the exception could be Loud Friday, but it isn't like Sasquatch is some aggro rock fest.

Agreed.

It doesn't mean you should have to be pushed, it just means that you will be pushed. Wishin' it weren't so isn't going to change anything, so you just have to make that decision for yourself. It's not like there's going to be a crazy knock-down drag-out for the Flaming Lips or something like that. There wasn't even a pit during Ween last year. If a push pit forms, it's because the crowd is responding to the energy on-stage. Deal.

People that get uptight about too much human contact at festivals don't have any fun - at the same time, people who go to festivals just to poop into sweaty people and crowdsurf are douches.

God I love that word filter.

Drew's right though. The appropriateness of a push pit would have to be decided on a case-by-case basis, but the asshole who gets in there and starts pushin' no matter what should be taken down at any cost.

True. We're not uptight about too much contact, it's the type of contact. Being pushed to the point where you can't breathe or are injured is the issue. I'm fine with being pooped into if people are dancing or standing real close but its the unnecessary shoving and thrashing when people are going "hardcore". There's a line. This isn't Warped Tour.

For the record, I'm never ok with being pooped into.

Those who poop on others, should wear diapers.

Ok, uncle cranky pants. I am aware of how a pit forms. But you were with me when we saw Les Claypool and the crowd was pushing and freaking out and you were just as vocal as I was about it, or as Les Claypool was. I was talking about people who just go down and thrash around regardless of what the energy/vibe/tone of the crowd is. I have no problem with human contact. Like when at the Dan Deacon show I was totally fine with being smashed up against hundreds of other people and their sweat...it just depends on what is going on at the time.

Being pushed to the point of being bruised and having the wind knocked out of you is the whole point. I get that some people aren't down with that, but hoping for people to dial it back is not only futile, it's selfish.

The idea is to push back.
