I wanna know what the holdups look like-- I rolled in later than everyone last year and they just waved me on through, but at Bonnaroo, everyone's shizuoka was getting ransacked by the police/security and we had to wait in line for a little while.

There aren't any searches, but last year when some of our friends got there the line to get in was at least a couple of miles long and took quite a while.

I have a related question...
I've considered arriving on Saturday afternoon. In terms of what camping space is left then, will I regret it? This post made me nervous about my plan:

My other option would be Friday evening. Would that be much better?
I'm also confused about the spaces because some people make it sound like you can pick any spot and others make it sound like the staff will direct you into spaces in the order you arrive.
Some here have suggested camping next to Canadians and that seems like a great idea (hockey talk, weed, better beer - win win for me), but I'm more worried about getting sandwiched in between two frat houses.
For the record, I've been to Squatch before, but I camped off site (on BLM land - NOT Wild Horse).

My guess is that there'll be a fair amount of people that came just for friday leaving on saturday. Of course, the FLAMING FUCKING LIPSide of this is that there will be people coming in on saturday that are just there for sunday, and so on. I guess what I'm saying is its kind of a crapshoot.
EDIT: Yay, filter!

I think one of the things that will be helped with the new camping policy is it will not get as overcrowded. There are always a surprisingly large number of people who are just camping and taking up all the space. We were in overflow camping before, and while it was fine, it was quite far away from the venue and didn't seem to be quite as fun as when we were right in the mix. As for Friday evening, what time? I just think it would be hard to set up a campsite in the dark.
As for spaces, it seems to depend. When we got their last year we were very early and they had several Jive Nation lackeys directing people in like sardines. We had to move our car once and then really Dr. Garbanzoht for a big enough spot. But as time went on they seemed to kind of just give up at some point because I saw a lot of people just finding their own space and having much bigger spaces. I would say just do the best you can and stand your ground. Not in an aggressive sort of way, but take the space you need, you paid for it.
You don't really pick who you camp next to, how would you even know upon driving in? Last year we camped next to Canadians, Mormons, a dude from Baltimore, and some bros. And it was great and we all hung out and ate together and played cards and had a wonderful time. One of the reasons I love Sasquatch so much is the vibe. It is very positive and inclusive and people generally respect that everyone is there to have fun and party in their own way. I think as long as you are open minded, chilled out, courteous, and just happy to be there you will be fine.

Thanks for this - great reply!
I'm trying to avoid taking a vacation day Friday (would rather use that Tuesday for recovery), so probably 8 or 9? But I'm comfortable doing tent set up in the dark.
I'm not overly concerned who I camp next to - I mentioned it mainly because I saw it suggested a few times on these boards and that idea didn't mesh with my impression of how the spots would actually be distributed.
I'm an easy-going dude, so I don't think it will be a problem, but since I'm flying solo this year (friends are broke, GF will be out of town) I hope to become fest friends with whomever my neighbors are.

I always think the earlier the better but that is because I only want to be at Sasquatch. I think most of that camp next to a Canadian thing was from that Mercury "field guide" who said don't camp next to people with lights or that aren't wearing shirts. But you probably will end up next to at least one Canadian because there are probably as many Canadians as there are Americans there. But just remember, there are Canadian bros too, so you just never know.

CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET A BONG I MEAN ALONG
Since this is the first year they're adding an extra day I have no idea what to expect as far as when everyone arrives to camp (I do premiere camping, mind you). Last year was my first year and we arrived Saturday early afternoon. We were directed to the premiere grounds and then no other guidance was given. What's up with that? I mean, we were able to find a nice enough spot on the edge on our own but what's up with that? Is that just a premiere camping thing?

I don't know, they don't let the unwashed masses near premier camping.

I walked right into premiere camping with absolutely no hassle. They asked to see my wristband, I held up my arm sans wristband and just kept walking.
