I think what doobies42(0) was getting at, now again this is just a guess, is that it's ironic that Americans would say EH? if they added an 'A' to Okanogan. I think the irony he is going for is that of an American saying a stereotypical Canadian slang. I'm not an English student, so I really couldn't tell you if that is irony, but I do think thats what he was getting at.
like this Ok-an-EH?-gan. |

I think you are exactly right. But, thing is, it's pronounced the same way in Canada as it is in the States. That "a" has the same sound as the one in the word "saw." Pronunciation fail.
I'm also pretty sure that is not irony. Grammar fail.

I am pretty sure that guy was just a few bricks short of a full load. Choosing the name doobie42 should of been a dead give away.

Quick question: Have any of you Canadians had any trouble getting across the border? I haven't gone over for a few years, now they have really strict laws I've heard. Anything we shouldn't bring across? My worst nightmare = my tickets in hand and not getting through the border or even not getting through on time

They know you are going to a music festival, so they will automatically assume you have copious amount of drugs hidden in the side panels of your car as well as the deep regions of your anus. Last year we were the only people crossing at the time and they proceeded to rip apart every inch of our car, only to come up with nothing. Took us an hour and a quarter, that is including their questioning as well as repacking the torn apart car. Expect more issues if you are: A) younger than 25 B) look like you are on , or could be on drugs.
Also try to void being the only car in the line, as they will have more time to be assholes.
But this was just my experience last year at the Osoyoos crossing, past years I have had zero issues.

Never had a problem until last year. It left a bad taste in my mouth.

Cool, thank you. We were thinking Osoyoos, but now maybe not!? I guess they are supposed to be intimidating dickheads whichever crossing you use. As long as you got across, that's all that matters. I've heard of people being held up for 8-12 hours, that would totally block my joy

Just have your passports ready and shit eating grins on your faces, and you'll be fine.

No It wasn't all that bad . They are trained to be complete assholes, and I do understand the porpoise of them being so. My only recommendation is to try and cross when there is a bit of a lineup , if that's even possible. That way they will likely spend less time on each car.

This is important, don't try anything of that sort. If you are bringing friends, make sure they understand the importance of this as well.

I've never had an issue. They're just trained to try to make you slip up. Like last year the guy asked if I'd ever been arrested and I paused to relive drunken escapades in which I was very close to being arrested. In that brief second that I paused, he pounced and listed off all kinds of stuff that would constitute an arrest. I told him no, I have never been arrested and I was just pausing to ensure an accurate answer. He let it go. Then he was convinced that my roommate (whose car I was driving) was a different guy by the same name, and asked him all kinds of questions, then let us on our way.
took maybe 5 minutes. Only car in sight at 4:30am at the crossing south of Cranbrook.
On the way back into Canada there was a car being torn apart by Border officials and one of the passengers was wearing a Dr. Dre "The Chronic" t-shirt.
So my suggestion is don't flaunt it if you've got it, and don't try to be funny. These people do not have a sense of humour.
