In need of a ride from Eugene to Sasquatch and back again. I could probably get to Portland if need be, but Eugene is ideal. I would like to get there Thursday, but I am flexible in that regard. I am a 25 y/o male. I'm an experienced festival goer. I'm FUR TWERNNY FERNDLY DERP. I do the best light shows you have ever seen. I know how to get liquor into anywhere. I am just scary enough that people wont mess with us at rest stops. I have a lot of good music, something for any taste. I can either keep to myself or offer plenty of good conversation, whatever your style is. I plan to pay my fair share, with a bonus or two if I like ya. I can meet for coffee or something in Eugene beforehand if you want to see that I'm not crazy...or at least that I can act normal for a half hour.

It takes more than half an hour to get to Quincy from Eugene.

...as if someone attempting to put on 'the best light shows' while I'm driving or even THINKING he could touch my stereo weren't the biggest red flags to be found in that post.

Hint: when attempting to secure a ride from strangers, avoid touting how scary you are.

Do people normally mess with festival goers at rest stops? I never realized I should be bringing along some muscle for when we stop for gas.

If I got you all the way there and didn't receive any 'bonuses', I'd know you didn't like me and then you'd be on your own when it came to getting back.

I think the half hour he's talking about is the time to have a coffee/meet & greet pre-trip. Being able to be normal for a half hour as proof that he's cool, then at the 31 minute mark of the trip wigging the fuck out.
At least that's how I read it.

Me too. A half hour of normalcy isn't going to cut it on a six hour drive.

the beauty of the situation is that as long as you're driving you can stop and kick the potential weirdo out of the car on the way. That could make for an awkward situation if a) the kickee still makes it to the festival, and b) finds you.

| No shit. Obviously your a genius so I wont question your authority, but the comment I made was intended to be a joke...You obviously cant really get to know someone well enough to evaluate if they are crazy in a half hour.
